If he’s not in the quarterfinals at least in year 2, then this may be a failed experiment. He’s paid too much for 8-4 regular seasons and the players are mercenaries so there is no excuse for not immediately turning things around.

He really had a good thing going at OM where they were viewed as a scrappy underdog and he could take the stupid risks he likes to take, since they were essentially playing with house money. If they lost - oh well it's just Ole Miss and we're used to it.
At an actual program with pressure and expectations to win NCs, his antics just don't work or fit. Ole Miss was happy with his bowl games and shot at the playoffs once in a decade, that's fireable at LSU
