So you think Ole Miss is a better football program than LSU? They have fewer resources…what do you consider them?

It’s our greedy culture.
Disgusting.
Disgusting.

Brother, they run the country currently, especially in Louisiana lol

It’s not sustainable for anyone. It’s not for your reigning national champ either. Just like always, you need solid personnel, but luck as well. Look at the IU stadium…they aren’t making anywhere near what LSU rakes in, but the star aligned when they hired Cignetti.
That said…spending this much cash is sustainable for maybe 5-6 programs in the country. And when they stop winning, the cash flow slows as well.

It's not. Know a 7-figure/yr booster who's already told LSU to stop calling, and this was before tonight’s debacle.

It's not sustainable for the sport as a whole... I think at some point the money will stop flowing as heavy as it is now and the "market" will correct. However, it's new and shiny. At some point I'm sure there will be lawsuits/complaints about player pay inconsistency and there will be some type of collective bargaining agreement. At this point players realistically should become employees of their respective schools if making money from revenue share but they will fight that until the end.

I paid $12.87 for a Box Combo tonight. I feel like I got ripped off

Not all. You just funded another Eugene Wilson drop. Money well spent.

Especially when you just let to a team that spent half as much.

It’s not sustainable for anyone. The sport-wide pullback is inevitable once enough alumni get burned and realize money doesn’t line up and play the games. The shift from student athlete to perpetually free agent mercenary ironically makes it easier to cut them off. The fall in in college sports enjoyment as a whole will have consequences
Even Aggie is having these discussions right now. Not because they can’t physically afford it, but because the people funding it aren’t charities and they aren’t seeing the results
If your school is still going to underachieve why be the dumbass bleeding money? They can suck without it
In LSU’s case its roster was at least from coaching turnover. They had a lot of holes to plug immediately and had to overplay to do it

Lane took the Ole Miss job under the same rules and regulations. He turned them into a contender. How could it not work here?

That’ll show em. Better off giving it to St Jude’s.
One thing about it, we’re stuck with Coach Visor for a while. No more buyouts for the foreseeable future.

I agree and that’s why I give them a pass on the ole Miss game. But Kentucky also has a first year head coach and spent half the money you did in the offseason. You can’t drop games that you’re supposed to win when there’s this much money on the line.

If you couldn’t watch that game tonight and figure out how it may not happen here….
LSU roster $50,000,000
UK roster $25,000,000
Both first year coaches.

It is not sustainable. LSU banks on winning which we've sucked about 14 years out of 15 the past 15 years.

It's not sustainable, but every school that wants to catch the ring will beg, borrow and steal to keep raising up the ante. It's the American way . . .
With the "borrowing", however, it'll likely be a combination of private equity investments into the universities, raised tuitions or both. It'll be interesting if some universities eventually have to file for bankruptcy/restructuring.
