LSU dodged not only the Brendan Sorsby debacle but also this head case.

Instead we signed Leavitt & Umanmielen. Thankful we either did our homework or got lucky.

We got lucky, but sometimes all you need is a little luck

We sure are. That would have been 2 horrific signings.

So thankful LSU didn’t have to go through that Sorsby mess.

I don’t know what they paid him, but if reports of him wanting $2Mil were accurate, and that’s what it took to land him, then I was glad we didn’t get him in the first place.

Always thought it was odd at how highly rated he was and how much he was asking for. Dude barely played as a freshman. They need to start rating these guys purely off of production in the portal.

You always need a little luck to make a run. Hopefully, that's the way this is headed.

Yep, a total shite-show. By all accounts, Longstreet & Clark have flashed potential in Spring practices, but are reportedly not ready just yet to face SEC defenses. Would've been a lot of on-the-job-training for them resulting in crucial CFP-deciding losses in Kiffin's first year, if Sorsby would've taken their snaps in spring, then disappeared.

Kiffin was already a villain for leaving Ole Miss during the CFP. Imagine Kiffin also getting a judge to overrule the NCAA to let Sorsby play, then the SEC suggesting they won't play LSU, which forces LSU to cut ties with Sorsby. The hate for Lane would've ben unprecedented. They would've jizzed to see Kiffin with a BK-like 5-loss first season, and the mass portal entrants.

And if Coleman would've been ousted from an already thin Edge group, it might've cost Blake Baker his job, or for sure, some opportunities next coaching-changes cycle.

2026 could've been a worse nightmare than 2025 LSU.

Could you imagine the national fire storm if Lane Kiffin had signed Coleman and Sorsby in the off-season?

Is it even possible to avoid these situations? I don't think there's much you can do homework wise sometimes on these issues. You just get unlucky. Which is going to suck if/when it does happen to us.

My sincere hope for this situation is that Tennessee held on long enough to make it to where he can't play anywhere this upcoming season.

And also that they're able to claw back as much money paid to him as possible.

Programs will do as the NFL does and require physicals, medical exams/background, etc.

Does Kiffin come in now and offer him tree fiddy?

Can’t imagine he’s planning on sitting out all of 26. Maybe he’d take a lowball at this point (unless he’s a head case).

I am waiting for a yahoo or Athletic article saying this was behind the scenes tampering by Kiffin so he could get Chaz to sign with LSU
