That Nike deal is low 5 figures per athlete. Thats why we had to fight so hard to keep Green - it was something he was willing to walk away from. Not the kind of money thats going to sway Leavitt. And OP should have said Phil Knight money, not Nike money.

That is fair, but it’s difficult to argue that the #1 player (and QB) in the portal isn’t a significant inflection point for a team that needs multiple QBs.
I’m not saying it’s doom & gloom if we don’t get him, but it’s certainly not the outcome you hope for.
Clearly he is a priority for us & if we miss you kinda need to hope we are in talks with a name that has not yet hit the portal like the Utah kid or Ty Simpson etc

With a slightly better O-line this past season we might still have BK.
We need the right personnel for the system. We will have a solid defense and I am certain we will have a better offensive line this season.
Not so concerned with ‘names’ because NO ONE was calling for LSU to go get Trinidad Chambliss 9 months ago.

He's an Oregon native who would be getting a chance to play for the home state school that's been to the CFP in back to back years and whose QB job is open because their transfer 1st year starter would be leaving to become a top 5 draft pick. Given that, it would be a huge surprise if he didn't pick Oregon.
But that wouldn't mean the season should be cancelled. LSU's HC and OC have taken a D-2 QB and helped him lead a team to the brink of the NC game. Every QB Kiffin had in his 6 seasons at Ole Miss performed well. So it's reasonable to think whoever is the QB at LSU will do the same...even if it's not one of the "highly ranked" players.
This is one of those situations where you give the benefit of the doubt to the coach.
