Is this a fact or your opinion? Seeing so many different answers on this.

I'm hearing now that the coaches didn't know about it and that the dad set it up through the head lunch lady whose daughter works at the UT athletic office...

Apparently the kid also wants to major in broadcasting and the ESPN studio on campus coupled with internships is a big deal.

Didn't someone else say this is exactly in the past? Does anyone know if this was a reality or just blowing smoke when really they were just receiving some benjamins under the table?

ETA: Prominentwon beat me to it, thought it was T.Davis last year. Chicken gonna Chicken.

We need to get Larry Porter back on LSU staff. That's who got him to visit UT.

Missouri instead. They have the best journalism school in the US

It is good, but best in the U.S.? That would be Columbia.

Either way, if he wants to go into broadcast journalism, it's Syracuse. Mizzou is for writers. Cuse is for talking heads.

Fair enough. The Manship School is pretty well respected, too, with good broadcast facilities the same internship opportunities everyone else offers.

I guess I don't get it. I know Texas has the ESPN thing and a very good RTF program - but broadcast journalism? They aren't super well-known for that.

Whatever the case ... they seem to be hitting some sort of sweet spot with Herron.

It's just their favorite bullshite cover story. We know what would really sway a kid this late in the process to a school that just started recruiting him. And it's not broadcast journalism. But what it is can't be said, so they use the ESPN studio to justify the existence of the floundering LHN.

Yes. Let's be honest. Unless a kid is considering Vanderbilt or Stanford, the decision isn't coming down to academics.

ETA: or Duke, or a few others, since Memphis wants to make a point.

Not to mention LSU's relationship with Cox Communications.

The LHN is a total failure up to this point but it is still a big time recruiting advantage for Texas

I suppose it depends on how you define failure. In last 6 months, deals with 3 large cable companies have brought in another 9 million homes, so now LHN is available in about 13 million homes around the country. You can attribute this to Disney (parent co of ESPN) and IMG College Sports (formerly Host Communications and part owner of LHN). Not bad when you consider how mediocre UT has been on field for he past 2 years.

The future is good for LHN, but product on field has to improve and it will in due time. The production quality is superb. The quality of play by the athletes has been mediocre.

His decision will depend on what RN does.

We will get one or the other.
