Maybe I'm reading it wrong but if they put the 5 for 5 into place that affects the international guys
Then all the seniors who exhausted their eligibility would them retroactively get another year
You can't pass half the rule.

I don’t think it’s half a rule. Players are held to the rule from the moment of its inception. Meaning anyone who exhausted their 4 years of eligibility prior to the rule being put in place no longer has any eligibility. Anyone who currently violates the rules for the upcoming season is also ineligible.
I obviously don’t like this interpretation but it seems to me that this is what they plan to do.

That will NEVER work. Wade will either get his international players or he will get 5 for 5 guys who were seniors last year.

This came out May 8, we've been announcing all these international players since then. You think they dont know what they're doing?

The guidance, distributed May 8 and obtained recently by Sports Illustrated, lays out updated preenrollment eligibility requirements largely surrounding compensation and professional team involvement. How aggressively the requirements will be enforced is unclear, but they lay the groundwork for the NCAA to push back significantly on professional players in Europe and other top international leagues enrolling in college.
I think the bold part is what schools are waiting on. However, they have already said that it won't be retroactive for current seniors. So, I doubt there is any carveout for this current crop of international players. Wade said they probably won't be able to announce the full roster until August, which would be after the new rules are officially put in place.

I think we all know the ncaa is going to get taken to court on anything they try to enforce and likely end up getting embarrassed in court

Goodman says he talked to 10 nba execs about Graves. 8 said stay in draft, 2 said go back to college.

If he wants to just be a first rounder then he's probably good as gone.
If he wants to come back and work on his physical side and try to get in the lottery or top 10 then maybe we have a chance.

He said if he's projected 1st round he's staying draft
It's a longer and longer shot at this point

I got the Euro League games on ... looking for Stansbury in the crowd
Yea Montero would have been a sick addition.
11 pts 5 ast in the first half
Sergio De Larrea with 3 points and 2 ast in 5 minutes

Goodman is probably the worst source for anything LSU/ Will Wade related as of now. It could be true but he blew a gasket about Wade just the other day even though he blew Nate Oates a few months ago over the same thing.

Goodman can eat a bag, but I don't see Graves at LSU. Kid seems to want to go pro now.

It was a list of several prospects fwiw, not just Graves.
Most of them were all being advised to stay in the draft.

At this point, this was Wade's only option to field a decent team next season
The portal wasn't good enough this year.
High school recruiting was all but over.
May just have to take a rebuilding year and recalibrate in future years.
LSU lost the entire roster, what does the NCAA expect you to do to field a team with coaching changes.
Iowa St lost a coach and nearly the entire roster.
If they don't fix this, some teams are gonna start to sit out entire seasons to rebuild their teams which is in essence the death penalty

I think Wade could've and probably should've retained some of the roster. Gambling on a roster of currently ineligible players was not in the best interest of the university and its fans. It may pay off, but it wasn't a necessary risk. We should've retained Reed, Miller, Thomas, Nwoko and Reece, and tried to keep a couple of the recruits, and then pursued a few portal and 3 or 4 international guys. I doubt any of the previous roster, except maybe Thomas, got paid over $2M, so we obviously had the money to retain them, even if we had to overpay a little. We could've had a roster of Reed, Miller, Thomas, Nwoko, Reece, Thomas, Ugo, Dioubate, Bashir and Nunez guaranteed, then adding 3 good international players would've been all we needed to put us near the top of the SEC. At least if we failed on the international guys, we wouldn't be a total loss, and would treat the season as a rebuild. Also, McNeil and Haggerty may have been more willing to join LSU if they were more sure we'd have a team. Without the international guys, it would allow Wade to show us his coaching chops with our previous players plus whoever he could attract from the portal. It's a huge and expensive gamble, which includes the risk that these guys won't gel.

That seems a lot like what McMahon would've done and then proceed to go 5-13 in the SEC and miss the tournament again.
