Then fans on this board just need an update from the gurus.

LSU apparently leads for Niang
quote:
LSU, Arizona, and UCLA are among the schools that are following Niang closely, sources told BasketNews. At the moment, though, LSU looks like the frontrunner for the Italian forward, offering the most money among the other schools.
Apparently, UCLA is out, but Duke and UNC have entered the mix. Niang needs to work on his jumper, but his defense and athleticism are NBA ready.
Mo Dio and Niang would be a nasty defensive combo!

looks athletic, but, honest question. If he is the best player in that professional league at 22 yr old then why is he only averaging 7 pts a game? I don't really know anything about the Euro league.

Best player \=\ best prospect
A 22yr old playing in a professional league is a young veteran, whereas a 22yr old coming to play in college should/would be a cheat code.
The $5mil number is being thrown around on twitter, which is also insane.

He looks like he would do well in the sec on the break and getting to the rim. Can rebound and play defense.
His shot looks repeatable from 3. Some highlights I've seen show him hitting the corner 3.

Idk how serious the Diang smoke is, but that would be an enormous pickup.
That article they linked said said Ellis got over 5 mil from St. John's? That seems like that would be a lot for Diang. Hopefully he isn't expecting that much.

More Euros being mentioned as potential LSU players -
Marcio Santos - 23 yo 6-9 center playing in Israel. Brazilian. This is the guy Mark Pope is flying over to see. Trilly says it's LSU, Kentucky, or BYU and should be announced in next day or 2. Averages 8pts / 4.5 rebs in 18 minutes/game.
Juan Fernandez - 23 yo 6-11 center playing in Spain. Argentinian. 8pts / 5 rebs in 19 minutes/game.

NC State just took a commitment from a transfer guard from Maryland. Has to be help out chances with McNeil.

The fact that we are offering McNeil 8 million per year helps us the most

If we offered him that much he would be here already. They probably aren't giving him 5 let alone 8.
