With his dad at the Saints, I wonder if the easy solution is for him to just transfer to a NOLA area school for 2026.

Different state. I know several kids that were ruled ineligible for similar transfer reasons. Glad he got ruled ineligible. That is the way it should be.

It’s not selective. I would call it the exact opposite. Texas is cracking down on this and trying to rein it in. I would say deciding someone of his status being ineligible takes some balls!

At this point, I'm sure they can find a judge in Athens to rule him eligible for the NCAA this year.

My wife (a teacher) was telling me about 2 children she taught this year (twins) being held back to repeat 8th grade even though both kids passed.
It's clear they are being held back to athletic purposes and not for the kids best interest (but maybe it is).
These 2 kids were also held back some years ago so they'll be at least 2 years overage when they graduate.

They are basketball playing twins from Chalmette that are in “6th grade”. My son is the same age and played against them 3 years ago while they were all in 5th grade. My boy is now going into 8th grade and they are in 6th…3 years later. What these parents do to these kids is frankly insane. Don’t get me wrong those boys are very good players. But putting them on track to graduate HS at 19+ years old is crazy to me.

I don’t have kids that are elite athletes so I can’t relate to an extent. IF I did, and NIL was around when they were growing up? I’d absolutely have held them back.
The difference in 17 and 19 is pretty substantial relative to emotional maturity. And, it’s ridiculous what athletes deal with that I didn’t have to growing up - contracts, negotiations, lawyers, etc.
If this is the world we live in - and I’m the parent of an elite athlete, I’m adapting the best I can to make sure he/she doesn’t get spit out the other side of it.

I’m pretty sure they might be ineligible to play as seniors due to being to old if they were held back that many times

The Jolly kids? Their dad started a whole basketball league just to feature them a few years ago and calls them the “#1 *th graders in the world” ever since they were 6 lol
At least they’re at St. Martins for now where no one really has to worry about them

Malik Nabors couldn't play his senior year at Southside because he transferred from Comeaux which is only 4 or 5 miles away.
