re: Apparently Arik Gilbert's decision to leave LSU had nothing to do with homesickness

the dude, like many 18-20 year old college students, made a fricked up decision... we've all made mistakes, and the whole transfer thing is just that... a mistake...
if he comes back, which I hope he does, considering he's a great prospect and plays a position we are tremendously thin at, and puts in the work on the field and in the locker room, all will be forgiven, as far as the team goes... and if he produces, like he's projected to, then all will be forgiven, as far as the fan base goes... it will all be water under the bridge...
he has it all in front of him, still... it's just does he want it bad enough...

Simply an attention whore. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Yes, he made a fricked up decision but he isn't coming back on his own merit, of it happens.
He would only be coming back cause he can't get a waiver.
To me that is almost worse.
I didn't and don't want to be at lsu but since i can't get a waiver i guess i have to.
How does that go over in the locker room.
If he transferred for weed it might go over but if he really quit, then i don't see how it goes over well

He was an 18 year old true freshman playing tight end in the SEC. He caught 35 balls in 8 games with a revolving door of mostly true freshman QBs. That is far from a disappointing season.

Like I said, it was more about what he did with the opportunities he had. I expected him to come in an run over CBs. Instead, he seemed to fold like a tent any time he was touched. He just didn't seem to play hard and he clearly didn't like blocking.
But, to be fair, I thought the same thing about Fournette in his freshman year. He "came out his shell" his sophomore year and started trucking anyone who came around him. Perhaps Gilbert will do the same thing. But, regardless, he needs to not be such a pu$$y when it comes to blocking.

Look, I hate how pampered young college kids are these days, and excuses that people give them for utterly stupid decisions and behavior because "Hey, they are just kids".
That said, everybody makes mistakes and the pandemic isn't making life normal for anyone, much less college kids. I sense it from the Freshmen that I teach this year and how messed up the situation is for them.
Now, if it is weed, that's on him, and he needs to just deal with the consequences like a man, and move forward. That doesn't mean quitting the team to leave. This also may not be true at all.
In the end, people deserve a second chance, and for all we know, Coach O was trying to help him out and made things worse on the kid with his idiotic statement. Again, a mistake as was the reaction from fans and former players until they knew more of the details.
Just give the kid a break and see how things play out before turning on him.

Wow! You either didn't watch a game or you don't know what a fooking block looks like! I'd like him back for production but not heartbroken either way.

I wonder if they’re not letting Arik have immediate eligibility because he WAS a starter. Most people who transfer and get eligible immediately are people who were 2nd string for a year or 2.

You probably thanked your bullies for shoving you in a toilet too. Weak!!

You give him 24hrs to be in or out.

He quit mid year and bama basically mugged him and he laid down. If you get physical with him it will cause him problems
Posted on 1/14/21 at 7:14 pm to Big4SALTbro
Did he really quit though, in the traditional sense?... Seemed pretty obvious to me it was an incoming weed suspension and some related mental health stuff that led to all this.
If the coaches want him back, that’s all that matters. We need all the help we can get for 2021.

O isn't going to do that.
He has been kissing his arse.
O will take him back and send the wrong message. If its a weed suspension, which most think, won't it still be there when he gets back?

No. If he stayed in school then he missed the required games.
Michael Divinity did similar, before rejoining.

Dude. He played great against Alabama. I think that was his best game of the year. He was very physical.
I assume you're just thinking about the fumble he had. That shite just happens sometimes.
