I hope he goes to Florida so our guys can get their hands on this dude.
He is a athletic freak and that might not be the outcome you think it will be!!!!
He is better off going to UGA or TENN so if we play him chances are it will be in the SEC game!

My post isn't random. I know he's not coming back. Would the coaching staff love to have him? yes, but he is gone. he's been "gone" a while
I would suggest that unless you are Arik, you really don't "know" what he is going to do. You might think you know, but you really don't know, none of us do.

Typical teenager that thinks he knows everything and that the grass is always greener on the other side. This is a classic example of a player getting pampered his entire life and calling home to momma because somebody said something that hurt his feelings! Keep on moving...hopefully we'll see on the field one day real soon!

Several posters have stated definitively that he's coming back to LSU. What are you guys basing this on?

I have no sources so this is just my opinion, but if the coaches and players want him back and he is considering it maybe Peetz who looks like a dynamic OC can help him get his head right. There's no denying how talented he is and an 18 year old that needs some maturation certainly isn't the most unheard of thing. Coming back to LSU after all that and "facing his issues" is a very mature thing to do.

Smokey sauces. I have no clue if it’s a done deal but it’s trending hard for LSU. Mama loves us. It’s looking like the one time transfer waiver won’t happen quickly so back to LSU he likely he is like coming.
I’ve actually heard this from a few different sauces. One of them is a guy involved with another program that was rumored to get Gilbert.

Very interesting.
On a side note I see you live in Moscow, ID. I use to live in Pocatello. Never made it to the western side of the state. The wife and I loved it there and will likely go back that way when we retire.

Some guys can't handle it. That first arse chewing for a mistake, and then grudges are held (sometimes by coaches by the way), etc. etc. and it is like the ground fell out from under them.
That being said, if you can't handle get the hell out. But that's indeed what happens with some teenagers, especially the most talented. It's sad in a way; very frustrating for coaches. But it happens and if it's a bad enough response (or lack thereof in some cases) from the player, the relationship is over.

If he is still enrolled at LSU this entire transfer portal fiasco smells like a ploy to avoid the compliance department.
Just get a fricking prescription for weed from a doctor to combat that body soreness and that will at least keep the compliance department off of him for one banned substance.

So, basically he got denied and that's the only reason he is coming back?
I'd take him back only because the te depth is so thin

It's not a good look to try to leave your team, be denied, and then have to rejoin them. If the team is cool with it, I'm cool with it..just don't want a divided locker room. He's a tremendous talent and we'd be lucky to get him back with the new OC coming in. He'll get Arik the ball no doubt.
