I saw Fong had an article on 247 but was VIP.

Said Holstein was going to be back on campus again today to continue talks with Sloan and Denbrock......

Not sure what a return visit means, but I’d say there’s more interest now then there has been...

It’s really getting funny the story about Eli being Walker’s backup at STM. Hard to do when Eli was at Zachary his freshman year. I know his mom from work and she got offered a job back in BR the summer before his freshman year. Family always wanted to get back to BR. Not saying it wasn’t a good move for Eli, but you don’t seem to call a kid scared when he transfers in to LSU - just out, right? I love LSU and would love to see him at LSU. Only thing I’ll say is from listening to little bit his mom says in passing y’all shouldn’t assume you know so much about what he’s thinking from reading articles by reporters who half haven’t even talked to him and comments on this board. Fun to speculate, but probably true about most comments on this board.

So people need to stop with the idea that he ran away from competition because he was scared.

Thanks for the info. Was merely throwing it out there as a possibility given that’s what I had read on this board several times.

There's definitely some momentum building for LSU. I'm not saying he won't end up elsewhere, but there was very little interest in LSU up to this point.

I am so intrigued by all the "Howard is so amazing" and "way better than Eli" BS. Walker is talented, but no more so than Eli and a few others. So, all I can say is that Eli is a rare rare talent, and maybe ends up a notch or two above Walker. Eli is bigger, faster, has literally the best testing data in history. Does that make him a better QB? Only time will tell. But I would gladly take a commitment from Eli...

I'm a big Eli fan. Both his parents were former Tigers. His dad even played for LSU. Once that P&G gets in your bloodstream it's hard to get it out. I think we have a legitimate chance of landing him.

So sets him up to transfer in the next 2 years after sitting behind Simpson and Milmore and possibly a 2024 kid.

This is college football now. Commit to a big program and get instant pedigree when it comes time to transfer.

I've seen some different things posted about the young man, and even his family, on this board. All I can go off of are my interactions with him and his family. Top notch people. I have coached against him and his dad in little kids basketball. I have watched my son's football team blown off the field by ZHS and Eli. I have been around him and his family here and there.

I think for anyone to speculate that Eli is scared of competition, that person clearly doesn't know him. Also, its clear that the move to Zachary was the correct one. Why would he sit behind/split time with Howard? In this day and age, that makes no sense whatsoever.

ETA: I obviously hope he is a tiger and I just can't root for his team if he goes to Bama, TAMU or a few other schools. But I absolutely will pull for him as an individual and any team he plays on outside of an LSU rival.

it's absolute nonsense the narrative that people are spouting, and even if he didn't want to sit behind Howard, he made the right decision 100% bc his name and recognition would be nowhere near where it's at now if he stayed at STM.

Previous staff has nothing to do with it, kid transfered highschools because of Walker Howard, he's not coming here.

Also you gonna give the previous staff credit for that 5* QB last year? Or is he magically somehow BK's recruit but The kid the year after him is O's recruit?

Y'all sound like democrats with trump looking for a boogeyman
