re: Natchez, MS Recommendations
Posted by princessmull on 10/15/25 at 12:45 pm to tigerfan0781
There's plenty of options. Hotel wise I recommend the Grand Hotel, but staying at the Inn at Dunleith or any of the plenty of airbnbs/BnBs downtown is also a cool option. If you are fine with hearing a band from your airbnb, the Under the Hill Saloon and Bowie's Rabbit Hole both have airbnbs on top of them. Bowie's, Under the Hill, and Smoot's are best bars. I would skip Andrew's and Corner bar. The Natchez Brewery is pretty cool, decent beer and pizza.
Restaurant wise, I recommend the Camp, Magnolia Grill, Pearl Street Pasta, and the Castle. The Castle is probably where you want to go for anniversary dinner. Breakfast go to Natchez Coffee Company and the Lil Easy.

Greece vacation
Posted by princessmull on 9/26/25 at 10:20 am
Looking for some recommendations.
Planning a trip to Greece next summer for husband and me. Debating between doing a Royal Caribbean cruise versus just flying to Athens and then island hopping.
There are options from Athens-Athens, Rome-Rome, Venice-Venice, and even Athens-Rome. All 7-night cruises that stop in Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos, with some also stopping in Croatia or Crete. If we did cruise we would like tack on a 1-2 at the beginning and end of the cruise.
Debating what would be the best bang for buck, and also the most fun. If we didn't do a cruise, we would likely fly into Athens, ferry to Paros spend a few days, and then ferry to Naxos and spend a few days.
What is the better trip?
Food and beach are top priority. We like to drink but aren't big club people. We also like history and would be down to see artifacts/ go to museums.

I owned and lived in the Hollydale Condos until July 2025, and I can definitely say that the only communication the homeowner's association had with the owners was about a year ago when we were told the condos weren't going to be sold or demolished. So if something has changed in the last month (which I doubt because I am friends with the family that bought the condo from me, and they would have mentioned it), the owners of Hollydale have not been told anything about selling the condos to the state.
I can't imagine a world where the condos have to be demolished, and Ivars doesn't. For those not familiar, the condos are directly next to and behind Ivars.

We will be going in December for our honeymoon and staying at Seven Stars. Very excited to not do anything but lay on the beach.
Any recommendations for restaurants or must dos?

had a really horrible experience a couple of weeks ago at Chow Yum. Roach crawling on the wall next to our table during dinner which i waved down the waitress, she killed it, and I quickly got over it. I understand Louisiana summer. But then a dead fly in my drink- in the middle of a full drink stuck between the ice. I can deal with a gnat flying in my drink, but this was a bug that obviously entered the drink while they were making it. IDK if their ice buckets aren't clean or what, but it was disgusting. Got the full meal comped and the manager apologized a lot but won't be going back anytime soon.

Calvin's lasagna

I bought a pre-made lasagna from Calvin's yesterday that is in my fridge. No instructions on how to cook it. What temperature and how long should I cook it for?
TIA

Breakfast at the Natchez Coffee Company. Lots of antique shops downtown that are fun to browse in. The Camp is a good lunch suggestion. Biscuits and Blues and Pearl St. Pasta are good restaurants too. I suggest the Castle at Dunleith if you want a fancier meal.
the brewery downtown is fun spot. good beer and good pizza.
Plantation homes are cool to visit.

thank you to all messages. Great information. Main goals are probably Beaches, Food, History/Culture then nightlife. Love a beer on the beach, but don't necessarily love clubbing.
I am leaning 2 days Athens, 4 day Naxos with maybe a day trip to Paros and 2 days Santorini. Milos is one that we may add based on the recommendation.
Is a day trip from Naxos to Paros possible?

good suggestions above.
I would add Natchez coffee company for breakfast/brunch.
Pearl St. Pasta, Wardo's, the Camp, Natchez Brewery Company, and Frankies are my top suggestions.
Frankie's is a really aesthetic restaurant. They modeled it after the Columns hotel in New Orleans.
I would suggest going to one of the many Darby's downtown and walking around.
Also St. Mary's basilica is a beautiful Catholic church if yall are into that. Truly a spectacular church.

re: Chapelle vs Mt. Carmel
Posted by princessmull on 4/25/24 at 11:53 am to DennisQuaid
I went to MCA and loved it. 10 years ago when I was deciding to where to go, my parents told me Chapelle was not an option and I essentially chose between Dominican and MCA. However, Chapelle has gotten much better in the last 5 years. They got a new principal who revamped the school.
If this was 5-10 years ago, I would say push her towards Mount Carmel, but now let her decide. Mount Carmel was a great school, I made friends I still have today and I felt prepared for LSU bc of MCA. I think Mount Carmel still has the better reputation in New Orleans but MCA and Chapelle are both good schools.

Blue lagoon boat day in Malta! we went on a cruise a few weeks that stopped in Malta and we were supposed to go to the blue lagoon but the weather was bad that day so it got canceled. we just did a double decker bus tour instead which the highlight was the old church where they filmed GoT. lots of cool building and churches in that part of town.

Bachelorette Trip - All Inclusive - NOT Mexico
Posted by princessmull on 3/7/23 at 11:35 am
Hi,
looking for help in finding a fun all inclusive for a bachelorette trip. Some people on the trip are very Anti-Mexico (kidnappings this week didn't help convince them even though I've told them multiple times that Cancun resorts are safe). Any places yall recommend? Bahamas is one island that i know we are looking at.
