Dalton Hilliard was a 3 star while Garry James recruited that cycle was a 5 star. In fall camp Hilliard's true freshman year, word from camp was our defense was terrible, we couldn't even stop this 5-7 runt three star from Patterson. I think 10 of the 11 starters on defense went to the NFL. And Hilliard? Tree trunk lower body that could move sideways in a flash. A second round NFL pick. One spot after Garry James.

Could this be St Amant’s first ever lsu commit in football that’s not a walk on?

Hard to believe given how many from EA have panned out at LSU.

They didn’t rank recruits based on 0-5 stars in 1981.

So is our recruiting class filled with 3 stars? Great analysis there Einstein.

People are just too scarred by our past coaches to see that Kelly will hire coaches who can recruit AND develop. They think if they aren't sec ready when they get here they're a lost cause.

Most 3 stars in Louisiana everywhere else besides the south and Cali. I’m here for it

georgia signed 8 three stars last year. Maybe do some research.
Why research when all you are looking to do is come over from tRant and take a shite on this board?

Completely different rating systems back then not comparable to today.

Louisiana 3 stars have been a huge blessing for US. A 3 star with good upside that works his arse off and bleeds purple and gold is with 2 4 stars that lazy and me me me

Not going to shite on Kelly for this because he needs bodies, but 3-star recruits aren't going to cut it if you want to beat Alabama, especially on the DL
A class full of 3 stars I’d agree with……however, LSU has always signed 3 stars and I’d say we’ve had a pretty good couple of decades doing it. Mo Claiborne along with countless others say hi.

Nobody’s mentioned he’s a WHITE 3 star yet. That’s a different classification altogether. He’s the Jack bench of DL. Should be a rant favorite.

Been watching this kid play since he was in the 8th grade. He Is an extremely hard worker and makes his presence felt on every play and always finds himself around the football. He was equally as good in basketball as well. It Has been great to watch him develop over the last 4 years and he will be a great get for whichever school he decides on!

We have to many DE type pledged and no Highly rated DT’s, if any. We are weak with this area and LB and CB. Defensive Tackle, offensive center, CB and a kick arse LB should be the focus the rest of the year.

People are going to find out this Saturday why you need 4-star or better recruits at almost every position if you even want a chance against Bama. Sure, there are 3-star players who have breakout years and end up being gamechangers but those are the EXCEPTION, not the norm.
If that was all he was recruiting then you might have a point. However, with as much talent already recruited to the Dline, extending an offer to someone you think might grow into a player isn't a bad thing at all.

No telling how many 3* recruits LSU signed in the last two decades that became LSU legends with their play when they got here. Don’t pay attention to the stars.
He’s a three star, that’s a damn good rating.
I’m willing to give the staff some trust to take a few chances on kids. Some of them get to campus and blow the frick up in talent after arriving.
It also is congruent with using our Louisiana homegrown talent.
