What Refrigerator isnt a POS?

Everyone talks massive shite about the LG units.

My cousins sells every brand out of his store. His words? Buy whichever one you like with the least amount of features you can live with.

I went LG with craft ice maker.

I think a lot of it is the luck of the draw. I have an LG fridge I bought in 2004 when I moved into my house. It has a top freezer, traditional ice maker and nothing fancy. It was no frills, but it had no-smudge stainless at the time and that was amazing to me. 19 years later and still ticking. I had to change a $4 relay/switch thing in the first year of ownership, but nothing since.

frick Samsung everything.

Dont do a samsung fridge. That is about all I know. Everything else is whatever you want to take a risk on.

I have an 8 year old GE that has been great but they are now a chinese company and no history to judge them by. If it were me, right now I'd probably take a chance on LG because the LG washer/dryers have been getting top marks for quality and reliability the last few years, even better than speed queen.

I have also had a couple of LG TVs well over 15 years old that still work great. None of that has to do with fridges specifically but I feel like LG seems to be doing the right things.

Our Kenmore is now on its 25th year. Just a simple one with freezer and fridge and one door for each. No ice maker or water dispenser. We bought it like we buy everything. Get a temporary subscription to Consumer Reports and research them. And Amazon reviews (which are trending to fake) and buy American as much as possible and tried and true brands and models. Put your ego last in this decision. Best of luck.

Frigidaire Professional bought new in Jan 2023. By March 2023, freezer ice maker stopped producing. Luckily it has another in the refrigerator part.

???? You got lucky on the LG washer/dryer. That must have been ranked on the spec sheets, not how it actually works. We have a set and fortunately my wife bought the extended service plan. Cheap-a$$ construction, and the control board on the washer has gone out twice. Once it goes out I'm just getting SpeedQueen.

But to the original post, I'd suggest Maytag or Whirlpool. I haven't researched it but my Maytag is going on 20 years now and it works. I know most brands have undergone design changes and may all be problematic now but so far ours is still kicking. I'd stay away from LG and Samsung. Great TV, sorry a$$ appliances.

I loved my early 2000s Kenmore with the measured fill feature. Loved putting a pan or glass under it and telling it how much water to add and it hitting it perfectly. Never had to look for a measuring cup. Miss that fridge so much. Everything I've owned since has been a massive piece of shite.

The KitchenAid that came with the house we bought is the biggest piece of shite yet. I especially like the inside water dispenser that takes 2 hands to use because the button is about 3 inches above the nozzle instead of below where you can push your glass against it like every other fridge in the last 40 years and it shoots out with such force the water flies down and up the other side of the glass all over the interior of the fridge until there's enough in the glass to calm it down. what the frick were they thinking when they designed this water dispenser?

Knowing what I know now, my advice to you is to never buy a refrigerator that has an ice maker inside the refrigerated part of the refrigerator. And don't buy an ice maker that is built into the shelving of a refrigerated door. The warm and cold air are competing, and it causes all kinds of issues.

Buy an ice maker that is actually in the freezer part of the refrigerator. This means you will manually have to retrieve your ice cubes. Sucks, but you'll have far fewer issues.

This seems to be almost everyone's problem. It is currently my issue on my refrigerator today. I've had it replaced under warranty twice, and the issue keeps repeating itself. It's something that I live with.

LG makes Kenmore refrigerators since 2015. I found this out earlier this year when the compressor went out in my kenmore French door fridge I bought new in 2019
