For the first time in my life, I'm considering hiring someone to take care of my yard this summer. I have a pretty normal lot and it usually takes me about an hour to cut it with a push mower and maybe another hour or so to weed eat and stuff.

Just been really busy lately and the last thing I feel like doing anymore is taking care of my yard.

I would actually like to see if someone would be willing to take care of everything but the mowing, but I know someone like that will probably be hard to find and it probably wouldn't save me much.

Find a neighbor that has a yard serviced, then approach the service company and ask - they're already out there every week anyway, so I got a good deal on keeping just my backyard mowed/trimmed.

Take pride in it and it won’t be a chore. I used to be like you, but now I want it to look good, so it’s rewarding and cheap therapy. Throw on some tunes, get outside and meditate. Then you can feel proud of the hard work when it looks good

I was paying $150 per month for fertilizer/chemical only and they messed up the yard so badly I had to take it all back.

Now I do it myself for probably $100/year in chemicals.

Guess we have different ideas when it comes to a yard. I literally just want it cut and kept up with. Don’t need the best looking yard on the block. I would much rather be golfing or fishing than spending all my off time working on my yard.

I mow on Thursdays usually. I try to avoid doing it on the weekends.

It’s going to be $50/ cut if you have anything but a tiny yard and want any sort of decent job.

Think my parents used to pay $20 for a 1/3 acre lot. I have 2.5 acres that I mow and it takes me about 2-3 hours a mow. Can’t imagine what it would cost for someone to mow it but I enjoy mowing for the most part. I put remedy and diesel down the fence line to cut down on weed eating. Got a decent zero turn that is most of the mowing now.

Mine was around $500 every 2 weeks so I bought a 60" zero turn instead.

20 acres, about 6 needed mowing and weed eating

Takes me about 4 hours to cut it all. I do not cut and weed eat on the same day. It's a process, what is tallest? Ok I'll do that.

As another poster said, wait until you find someone doing your neighbors yard (even better if next door) and ask them. Other than the first cut of the year, I have cut my time tremendously by not edging/weed eating every week. Like you said in another post, not trying to have the best yard on the block just maintaining it.

Cut every week. First cut of the year, edge everything, hit it with weed eater, then cut. After that I use the weed eater every other week and only edge once a month. Which means there are some weeks I cut only.

Regular Metairie it was $35/week. We moved to Old Metairie with a 15%'ish smaller backyard and it went up $45/week. Robbery but frick cutting grass.

I actually enjoy doing the yard on Friday afternoons, especially this time of year. Get home, knock the yard out, pour some bourbon and sit outside and watch LSU baseball

Depends on location and yard size

Some I pay 125 each time to cut grass, weed eat and blow leaves on a 2 acre spot(not all grass)
Some I pay 135 each time to just cut grass on a 2 acre spot that’s mostly grass.

It seems to depend on the amount of grass involved
