anyone else’s squirrels disappeared all of a sudden?

I guess it’s the heat and drought. We usually have dozens and sometimes more than that. It occurred to me this morning I haven’t seen one in days.

It's much less activity. We probably have 30 squirrels in/around the property and activity is way, way down this Summer.

I noticed the same thing. I see them in the morning and in the evening, but not during the hot part of the day. They drink water from my bird bath a lot.

Probably from all those house cats. They murdered all the birds in the world and have now moved on to squirrels.
but in all seriousness, i haven't seen many at all the last few months, and i usually have a few run across my roof every single day for the last 10 years or so and i haven't heard that in quite some time.

As an unwilling attic landlord, I am team owl, but I have to say, as varmints go, squirrels do have more redeeming entertainment qualities than most.

Squirrels move around seasonally with food source changes. I see it every year. They will camp on a productive tree. They will move to areas with different species based upon timing of mast production.

Yes, but I'm the one doing the disappearing.
I use my scoped 10/22 with CCI segmented hollow points to send them to the happy acorn plantation in the sky.
Those rodents can live in my woods, but if they venture into my 5 acre mowed homesite, theyre marked for death.

I'm the opposite. We bought our place last year about this time. I notice one when walking the land (eaten pine combs under a big pine). Didn't see one for several months despite putting out feed and bird feeders.
Now, I can't drive to the mailbox without seeing 4 or 5 of the little bastards.
