What Gyms do yall belong to?

Trying to take up working out again as a regular thing by getting a gym membership. Just curious to see which ones you all belong to and suggest. Just trying to find the best fit in terms of gym quality, amenities, and price in the New Orleans area.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Whatever gym you choose, just understand that it’s now your third place.
First place is home. Second place is work. After that, your gym will be the next place you frequent the most.
I firmly believe many people fail to stick with consistent work out routines because they never get comfortable being at the gym. It’s a mindset, a commitment, daily.
Good luck.
ETA: I am a Snap guy. I don’t need to shower or change at the gym. Free weights, machines, and a clean environment are all I look for.

My neighborhood club house gym. Kinda sucks but it’s free and has enough equipment for what I’m trying to do. Biggest complaint is dumbbells only go to 75 pounds.

I'm one of the nutjob CrossFit people. IDGAF what anyone says about it. My goal is stay fit, look fit, have good muscle mass, and have a good cardio engine. CF allows me to do all of that.
Been doing the CF thing for 2 1/2 years now. I genuinely love everything about it. I don't feel like I ever neglect a muscle group considering how much I go.

A lot of us built the home gyms. I havena pretty good setup in my garage. Rogue squat rack with some pulley attachments and bands, Ohio bar, a safety squat bar, ez curl bar, over 600lbs of plates, a great Rep adjustable bench, dumbbells up to 70lbs, kettlebells up to 50lbs, and a leg extension/curl machine from Titan.
I plan on adding a dip attachment on my rack and will eventually buy a sled to push up and down my sidewalk and driveway.
Also, I'm the strongest(and weakest) dude at my gym.

LA Fitness. It sucks but it’s 19.99 a month for me so that makes it worthwhile dealing with all the idiots in there.

CF Gym to keep up my overall fitness level. Enough shite in my home gym for hard core lifting.

Local country club with a nice weight room. Have Planet Fitness also but only for the random days it’s closed

Anytime
The huge one by Dutchtown is my home gym since its on my way home from my work in Geismar. It gets packed with all the plant baws but its big enough to hold them. I think its one of the biggest anytimes in the country, its a great gym.
I go to the one by whole foods in BR when im off. It's pretty laid back. Nothing but old retired bocage regulars in there chatting it up on the machines. I like it as well.
I have to have a 24 hour gym since i work shift work

B4 Fitness, private owned gym. It’s great IMO, especially for being in a small town.

I had a home gym, but I preferred going to a gym. Leaving for the gym involves different preparatory mental processes, and driving on I-10 builds the proper amount of rage necessary. But, I'm also that guy has said fewer than 10 sentences to anyone in my gym for the last ten years.
Given that you're not a long time gym go-er, you probably think guys like me are angry at you or your type. It's the opposite. When I see out of shape people trying, I feel proud for them. You're doing something, which is a lot more than can be said for most people. It's the traffic and the chicks constantly playing with their hair in the mirror that cause me to fast forward to Slipknot.

I’m either paying big bucks for a nice one with a steam room or getting a cheap one that gets the job done. No real premium options here so I joined Planet Fitness and I’m happy with it.

Is it like Hyde Park Gym in Austin? My favorite gym (Leg room is to the right behind the wall)

The YMCA. I go to an Anytime with my wife on weekends sometimes and just pay the guest fee. We have a gym at work so I'm usually lifting there at lunch.

There was a big arse dude at the first gym I lifted at who never said a word to anybody. He always looked angry. I ran into him at the grocery store one time and he was friendly AF. Told me I was making great progress and not to hesitate to ask if I needed help with anything.

YMMV per location

I go to Premier.
has a bigger gym on airline and a smaller gym right before you get on the causeway in the big building.
Both have plenty of free weight and machine options and steam room. Airline has some other stuff including boxing equipment, more cardio options, more studio areas.
Neither has ever gotten unbearably crowded and most times i go id say not crowded at all.
over all pretty happy with it.
I spent a few months in Gainesville and used the gym there associated with the university. I wish i could have that here lol, best gym ever.

Depends on what your goals and needs are. We used to train at YMCA because all I really need are barbells, a rack, some dumbbells, and a pullup bar. A rowing machine is nice though. The Y was rarely crowded, and unless the 50 Latina Instagram models were doing their 2 hour long booty blast marathon squat variations, I could normally just walk in and get in a squat rack.
Before that I was at Elmwood Fitness Center. Which probably has everything you would ever need, but it was extremely crowded. And most of the people there were the kinds that serious gym goers complain about. People not taking their weights off the barbell. People just putting plates wherever they want. People playing on their phones while sitting on a machine you want to use. People walking over the barbell while I'm in the middle of a set of deadlifts.
If the franchise owner isn't a shithead, Anytime Fitness can be a good cheap option that is opend 24/7 and generally has any equipment you may need. I trained at an Anytime for years until it got bought out by a new owner and we got into a fight over me using chalk.
