Actually he is right other than the fried part. Uncured bacon from pigs raised in a humane way from a local farmer is one of if not the healthiest things on earth. So healthy many classify it as a superfood.
Do research on the mirconutrients in uncured bacon. Btw what do you think is so bad about it? Hope you aren't thinking the fat content. Nitrates yes, but that is taken care of with uncured bacon.

Oh and I love all the people in here talking about all these processed carbs like they are good for you and eating very little protein is going to positively affect their body comp and the carbs are going to help blood markers. Blows my mind people have so little knowledge and lack of desire to research for themselves and think critically and form their opinion.
Seriously y'all can't be this stupid right? If you wanna go vegan, go ahead but don't claim its for health. And stop comparing yourself to asians that burn 5x's the calories you do while not even taking in 2k/day.
I really hope y'all aren't in science, engineering or any job that requires critical thinking skills, because that is something most of you lack big time.

And the nitrite/ate thing is even dubious.

In spite of the epidemiological evidence linking nitrites to cancer being weak, and the established fact that 95% of all the nitrite we ingest comes from bacterial conversion of nitrates naturally found in vegetables, many consumers have a lingering concern about eating nitrite-cured processed meats. But one person’s concern is another’s business opportunity. In this case, producers have responded with an array of “natural” and “organic” processed meats sporting the catchy phrases such as “no synthetic preservatives” or “no nitrites added.” But given the crucial role nitrites play in processed meats, how do you replace them? Well, you don’t. You just replace the source of the nitrite.

He never said vegan. There's a ton of shitty processed foods that are vegan!
He said plant based which is very healthy and nutrient dense!
If most people eliminated all processed foods which includes bacon, sandwich meat, etc., we would all be better off.

This thread is exactly why I loathe the vegan propaganda documentaries that litter Netflix. There's SO MUCH flawed science and biased interviews with questionable doctors and "professionals" that it's all hard to take seriously. The worst of them all so far has been What the Health. It's awful.. they started out claiming that animal fats give you diabetes,
I think the truth lies more in the middle (as it usually does). We are omnivores and have a very adaptable diet, which is why the human species has been able to survive and thrive in almost any climate and situation that our planet has to offer. We can sustain on almost anything. As a species, deprecating health stems from rampant obesity more than anything. We can debate keto vs. veganism vs. IF vs. whatever else, but ultimately the increased/decreased risk factors among all of them are minuscule when compared to the risks that obesity brings. The majority of individuals at a healthy weight, especially those in great shape, will likely not see huge shifts in their blood work numbers if they go vegan vs keto vs iifym, etc..
Obesity is caused, obviously, by caloric imbalance. The caloric imbalances we find so many people falling into (myself very much included) that we used to not see can be attributed to so much hyper palatable foods, imo. We live in a time and society where there is abundance of EVERYTHING, and that is especially true for hyper palatable foods that your body will crave all the time, even when satisfied. Yes, this does include many modern fruits, grains, vegetables, and meats. All of them have been selectively bred over the years to increase size and flavor, whether that be more sugar, more starch, more gluten, more fats, etc., as well as increased shelf life.
There are many methods to combat this caloric imbalance; which is why we have threads like these. You can choose to avoid the hyper palatable foods by going vegan, or going keto, or whole 30, etc.. . which can also require a fat arse pocket book to get all of the grassfed/organic options that may or may not be less modified from nature. You can also choose to partake in the hyper palatable foods in moderation, but it requires vigilant macro counting and self accountability unless you are one of the lucky individuals with a crazy metabolism.
Granted, I'm posting this on a health/fitness board so maybe this is not the right audience for my soapbox.

Honestly oven-baked bacon is the best imo. Put it on a rack on top of a cookie sheets, 425 for 15 minutes.. perfect.

I eat a lot of meat like the average American, possibly too much. In the past few years, we've started getting meats (Pork Chops, breakfast sausage, fajita beef, eggs, etc.) from a place called Yonder Way (near Houston) that is generally higher quality and healthier.
I'd estimate that 50-75% of meats that I consume are the healthier variety and think I can 'feel' the difference (although may be placebo). I also feel that I get more fruits/veggies than the average American.

That's why I hunt. I had 85 lbs of ground meat and some deer roast. Helps a lot with a family of 5 too.

That's why we should all try to eat fresh as possible. In my current location its kind of hard bc the only real grocery store is Walmart so we are better off buying frozen veggies. The Walmart brand chicken and beef actually isn't bad though. But it makes me miss Europe. The quality of meat and produce over there is much fresher and better. It isn't loaded with tons of preservatives to make it last 3 weeks before you cook it.
The quality you would get at say a Whole Foods in America is like any regular grocery store there.

Asians are able to eat less calories. Why? They eat more grains and of course rice. They are able to sustain on this food source and not feel hungry. Our sedentary life style compared with asians is true. I don't see how pounding meat is going to help that though.
My friends are full on vegan and very happy and healthy. Guy runs ultra marathons and shite. Is it for everybody? Nope. Is it healthier than the standard American diet? Yep.
Eat meat man. I ate chicken wings this weekend. They were delicious. I didn't delude myself to think they are healthy.
Some vegans are insufferable. If I could get one buddy on this site and in this thread his head would explode. He would flame the board with a million articles and 2 million YouTube videos. Each video will have a paleo or Keto guy to counter it.
I prefer balance. For me that comes with a few meat and dairy free meals and full days.

I agree with almost everything you said but this. I think it's more complicated than just calories in vs calories out. Gary Taubes is trying to do a large study on this trying to over feed people with protein and fat while limiting carbs/insulin to prove that insulin is the main factor and not over consumption.

Biggest thing to get people past. "Your gonna get fat eating all those carbs". Evidenced by the masses of fat asians.
Obesity is a huge problem in China lately. Not so sure I'd use them to make a case for carbs. Japan is also having an increase on obesity.

I bet you read meat was dangerous and leads to cancer from one of those studies that used processed meats and hamburgers (think buns) and classified these as "red meat" all the while never taking into account other lifestyle factors including alcohol, smoking, and exercise. But red meat is dangerous
