Work out 6 days a week. Strong as an ox, but can’t rid myself of stubborn body fat. I cycle my diet from 1600 calories for 3 weeks to 2200 calories for a week.

I know there is no get rich quick scheme to losing body fat. I put in the work, diet, no alcohol, and I am on dr prescribed TRT/anastrozole. If I lose a half a pound a week, I’m lucky. I know I am adding muscle, and my strength is improving, but the belly just won’t go.

HELP!!!

what you eat matters, so what are you eating?

Maybe it’s the macro distribution on the calories you’re getting? Some posters more versed in diet could probably tell you with a list of what you’re typically eating and the timing of your meals.

What’s your macro breakdown? That could have a lot to do with it.

good question. I will spend the next week tracking my macros and see what tweaks I make.

Not to be harsh, but unless you are absolutely jacked you could stand to lose about 30 lbs at least.

If he is a serious lifter, I doubt he has to lose that much. But, maybe. Hard to say with out knowing the guy.

Some people just have a wide frame, but it's likely that he needs to focus on some dieting with that height and bodyweight.

Sounds like it's just your body type. Quit comparing yourself to six foot three male magazine underwear models. You will Never look like them.

I was 5'9 - 184lbs 5 months ago.

Yoyo'd between 180-185 for years before that working out 3 days a week and cardio 2-3 days a week. Could never lose that belly fat.

Started a Keto style diet 5 months ago and went down to 165lbs in about 3 months. I now lift weights 3 days and cardio maybe once a week. I didn't lose any strength and feel great. It's amazing to me I can weigh almost 20lbs less but still have muscle mass and not have a long distance runner look. I am more lean muscle than bulk though but that is what I want at my age.

I'm 168lbs now and like my current weight so I plan on staying where I am.

Oh I'll be 49 in December

Not harsh at all and it’s 19. At 170, I’m absolutely jacked. As someone else mentioned, I have a very wide frame and I am as strong as an ox. I just need to lose belly fat.

Well he says he works out 6 days a week and is strong as an ox so I'm guessing he has some muscle mass to him

In that case, I'd stick with what you're doing. If you are losing weight (even slowly) and gaining strength, you're doing fine.

Cutting harder will probably impact strength. The lower your BF gets, the slower the remaining cut is. If you like strength, it's hard to cut too dramatically.

No spot reduction cure for fat. All that said, there is no downside to counting and possibly adjusting macros.

I haven’t done a good job of monitoring my macros. I’m going to give that a go over the next two weeks and see if I don’t have any improvement. I’m in my mid 40s now and it’s just a lot harder to lose it than when I was in the military or in college.

found your problem. kill the bread and the cookie, cut the protein bar to 1 and eat lean meat as your protein.

Also what was on that salad? how much dressing. Im 5'7 and 152-155 depending on the day. You def need to drop 30lbs unless you are jacked. What are you drinking? only water?

Only water. I eat the bread in the AM to get through the sluggishness. The cookie was a treat that I shouldn’t have eaten.

Vinegar and oil. I don’t do the salad dressings save Italian or vinegar and oil.

I need to drop 19 lbs. even when I was in the army and had a 6 pack I was never less than 165. 170 is my target.

My latest readings are:
154.6lbs fat free body weight
147lbs lean body mass
7.8lbs bone mass
18.4% body fat

I would up the protein. High protein, heavy weights. You dont need the bread to make it through the day, you just think you do. I dont eat every day til 12 or 1. And im up at the gym at 5 30 am. You body adjust. Try IF, you will be amazed at the results. I do a 16/8 fast. Eat high protein (1.5-2g per lb of body weight) Green veggies, and watch the weight fall off. Also you can not spot reduce stomach.. it is usually the last to go.

Yeah, I realize there is no spot reduction. I’m just trying to drop 9% body fat.

I’m going to monitor the macros for the next two weeks and if I don’t see some improvement, I’m going to follow your advice. At this point I’m willing to try anything.

reduced carbs to <20 net carbs per day. Eat all meats, cheese, eggs, and low carb greens.

You'll feel much lighter in just 5 days.
