I lost a ton of weight doing it. In hindsight, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s far too restrictive and you’d be better off just counting calories and being more active.

I’d do Carnivore instead.

I’m sure there are exceptions but everyone that I’ve known that has done it has great success but they don’t have the self control to keep the weight off when they stop the diet and gain it all back. If you’re not looking to make a lifestyle change then counting macros may be a better way to go, just my opinion

Gave me terrible gas when I got off of it. That was the only remarkable observation I got.

Yes I do it but not on the weekends because that’s not sustainable for me. I do try to eat low carb on the weekend though but more like under 100g instead of 20g. I love it and I’m still able to have my daily glass of wine during the week.

Some people really like it because they can feel full while reducing calories. Some people make it their permanent diet style. Give it a shot and see how you respond to it. I generally would not promote a diet that restricts what you can eat so much, but some people really like it and have done well.

You can be fat adapted without gorging on fat. “The Keto Diet” is a misconception, to the extent it requires some whacked out X% fat macro proportions. (Unless you’re treating a disease such as epilepsy or cancer.)

But ketone metabolism has great health benefits (e.g., BHB fights bad inflammation). You can get there with just cutting carbs, fasting, and focusing on good complete animal protein.

I don’t count macros. Just avoid bad oils and sugar except in fruit, and rarely eat starches unless doing intense activities.

ETA: my weight stays within about a five-pound range, without counting anything or really even paying attention to diet.

Would lose a significant amount of weight but it would always come back, often quickly.

I've been on keto for over two years now. I don't require a lot of variety and have gotten used to choosing from just a few different meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It has been great for me. It is quite restrictive, but it's also pretty simple. My energy level is much more stable throughout the day. I don't ever crash and burn. It took me a couple months to get used to lifting as I required more time between sets, but I'm now about as strong as I've ever been and at a lower weight. I've also noticed that I can stay more focused throughout the day over the last couple years, but that could be a coincidence. Overall, I feel better, I'm more confident, I'm not as moody, and it's helped my career. I recommend it, but it's definitely not for everyone, and you should consult your doctor before starting, especially if you have any health issues.

Its one of the most unhealthy things you can do because people can not actually do it 100% correctly.

I don’t do keto, but I do trend towards a high protein / high fat / lower carb diet - especially when I am cutting or maintaining my weight. It’s more satiating for me and I feel better.

I wasn't too overweight to begin with. I'm 5'8" and was 185, but I lift so I carried it fairly well. I actually lost too much after a couple months because I didn't eat enough fat and got down to 150 before I realized it. After I adjusted, I've been very steady at 170. I still have some body fat, but I'm pretty happy with the muscle definition I have. Now, I eat as much as I want, but only low carb foods, and I'm pretty content. I wasn't planning on doing this long-term, but I don't see any reason to stop. I get a physical every 6 months to a year to make sure my blood work is good since it's a relatively new diet. I had two of my workout buddies start keto Thanksgiving of last year. They only lasted a couple months, but they had a very similar experience to me and lost about 30 pounds. They're still much leaner than they were before even after stopping keto because it changed how they viewed carbs. I should also mention that I don't ever feel like crap after I eat. I feel great all day.

Far too restrictive so instead starve yourself?

I tried it but had to bail last week as I started having heart palpitations. I had some high-carb food and the palpitations stopped.

I read up on it and it is a thing for some people.

I did it once before but had to quit due to gallbladder issues (anything higher in fat caused pain/attacks). I don’t think it started the gallbladder issues but it exasperated it for me.

Had the same issue. I upped my sodium intake and started eating a few more things like fresh spinach and it definitely helped.

I did keto two years ago and lost 50lbs in 5 months. Like others have said, I gained it all back but that's because I made terrible choices for two years, it had nothing to do with some kind of keto rebound. I'm back on keto and IF and I've lost 18lbs this first month. I'm staying under 20g net carbs per day bur I'll gradually increase my carbs as I lose weight. I'll maintain my calories to <1400/day. It's worked for me and it's not that hard.
