There’s been studies done showing high level of benefits for children taking- both in cognitive develop and concussion prevention. I’m about to start giving my 6yr old a 1.5g gummy daily

Is 5mg too much for a 13 year old?

Ehh that’s about the age where I’d consider bumping to 5g…as long as he’s lifting I think 5gr is appropriate as a teen

At what age is it appropriate to start taking creatine?

any age, but really about 6 or 7. start taking 2-4g and go up from there. by 10 I recommend 5-8g and by middle school 10g and then high school the 15-20g and from there on out.

Make sure you’re taking creatine HCL, not the monohydrate

Both will do the same thing, but I have been into the HCL game for over a year now, and I definitely second it. It's also faster to go to work in your system, from what I recall reading. Definitely less prone to bloat, but I have never really had an issue with bloating on any level. Never noticed it. But I'm not overweight.

The only thing i WILL say is there seem to be brands I've tried out that had a legitimate and noticeable nootropic effect like a light cup of coffee. but instead of it feeling like an upper it felt a little more like clarity of mind.

some brands accomplish this better. or maybe it was gummy vs powders and those different delivery systems. personally, i loved the gummies taste but i felt they were a bit less effective (the ones i trieid were not hcl).

I take 6 grams of the hcl. Just ordered some creapure so going to take 5 grams of monohydrate and 6 grams of the hcl split into two doses one in morning the other at night.

Presume you are a licensed medical
Professional to steer people on age-appropriate health advice, including for minors…much appreciated!

no and im not giving health advice. you can choose to do whatever you want. I dont care.

as far as creatine goes, you dont need to be a licensed medical professional to be able to read the studies.

do what you want and as far as minors...again read the studies.

cant stand people that pull that shite like doctors are learning about creatine and other supplements in medical school.

let me give you a hint...do not take advice on nutrition, performance nutrition, training or supplements from any doctor unless they are a lifter themselves.

again do what you want

This can't be said enough. MD's aren't taught about any of these things in medical school. They are for the most part clueless when it comes to any of this. There are regular people on Instagram and Twitter more qualified to help you with these things than MD's.

I'm an MD and I agree with this

Any information I have about supplements, nutrition, etc, has been researched from my own time and interests for personal reasons. Nothing from school.

There are some sports medicine doctors with personal interests that are very informed about this stuff. This is not new information to most of this board. I do find there has been an overload on creatine threads here lately, which I don't really get considered its benefits have been known for some time in fitness/lifting circles.

I think part of it is the information about brain health/cognitive function and other things. I've heard co-workers who clearly do not go to a gym talk about creatine in the last year and the myriad of positive benefits beyond weight lifting. It is becoming more and more mainstream outside of lifting circles.

Usually have 3-4 different brands of protein I use. Just order creatine from whatever brand of Protein has a sale going on when its time to stock up.

PEScience, Morphogen, or if I don't want to wait for shipping, I'll use 5 star nutrition or last resort get whatever costco has
