You really know how to cut to the core of me, Mingo.

I have had 1 coke in the past 3 weeks and I’ve lost 9 LBs.

I drink soft drinks occasionally. Normally it’s unsweetened tea. If I want to add a sweetener, it’s a little stevia or Splenda.

I rarely drink diet drinks, but I have two cans of sparkling water a day. I love the spindrifts but they are expensive as hell. At work, they have these cream sodas sweetened with stevia that are fantastic

Cut the soft drinks (though I cheat one day a week - love having a couple of coke heavies for lunch on Saturday) and cut the beer entirely and substitute with liquors either neat or on the rocks, and that's like 70% of the way there calorie-wise for a lot of American men. Taking down a sixer of IPA is north of 1500 calories and 150g of carbs for many brands; same alcohol content can be had for 600 calories and 0 carbs if you get 3 bourbon doubles on the rocks (closer to 400 for the same in vodka but vodka is disgusting). Wine is trickier, especially if in a career with a lot of people that value drinking good wine with dinner - just have to pick and choose your spots (and I like wine a lot).
That shite adds up over the days, weeks, months, especially during football and holiday seasons.

I probably had an average of 2/day in my 20s, down to 1/day in 30s.
Now about 3x/week in 40s and starting to prefer Diet Dr Pepper or Coke Zero as regular soft drinks too sweet.
I know it’s not healthy but feels like a good moderation level. Never had the need to try and lose weight but obviously has other negatives.

I am proud to say that I haven’t had a Coke since mid-December after drinking at least 2 a day through my teens and 20s. Was a tough habit to kick. Outside of sweet tea when we go out to eat (1-2x/week) I stick to strictly water.
I’ve finally gotten to where I don’t crave the stuff during “high trigger” events like eating pizza or after a long day at work or in the yard. Has been life changing for sure in how I feel and a motivator to clean up my eating habits as well

It's the high fructose corn syrup makes you fat and hungrier

I have had 1 coke in the past 3 weeks and I’ve lost 9 LBs. Definitely not at my goal weight (people laugh when I say I need to lose weight), but it’s scary how bad that shite is for you.

The real problem is that HFCS , or anything, that makes food hyper palatable leads to eating excess calories; which makes you fat.
This is exactly what I said makes you hungrier genius

No need to be a count. And, no , that’s not what you said. And, no, HFCS doesn’t make you hungrier. If you would have said foods containing HFCS tend to be less satiating and leads to overeating, you would have been right. But you didn’t, so you’re not.
Salvage away.
Salvage away.
