by no means playing great, but Boot Ranch ate my lunch and everyone in my tee time. To the point we said screw it and packed up and headed to a Luckenbach to drink beer after we finished #14.
Part of it was that none of us had ever played it, and on some holes had no idea where to hit with some blind shots.

Windswept Dunes - North of 30A. Never again.
i might have shot 130 at camp creek
152 slope is probably the hardest course ive ever played.
Played windswept the next day and it was a breeze

Windswept isn’t that bad if you play from the correct tees. From the back or next to back it’s brutal. But I think it’s fair.
Course I played down in Destin area that was a great course but tough was Santa Rosa Golf Club. Not long at all, but just tough. Greens and green complexes are really tricky. Has a very links feel. Cool place.

Pasatiempo.
In the bluffs on the north side of Monterey Bay.
I couldn’t tell if putts were up or downhill much less left or right

The Honors Course in Tennessee. After three rounds (practice & two tournament), I seriously wanted to break every club and quit.

Shattuck in NH. Beautiful course. Played it 2X. First time it won. Went back to enact my revenge and was doing well until a quadruple on 18. That hurt and humbled.

Shoal Creek. Shot 78 from the tips the week after the PGA and played great. 6” out of the fairway and you were making bogey or worse. A yard off the green and you were making bogey or worse.
You get a real appreciation for how good pros are on days like that.

Back 9 of every course.
Usually the front 9 for me.. a couple of weeks ago I played Greystone with my normal group... 50 on the front... 38 on the back.. you want to talk about being completely bewildered by a sport..

Spyglass.
Had no business playing from the tips.
Shot a 78 at Pebble the day prior. I have no idea what I shot at Spyglass. I was 1 under after four. After that a blur and smart arse caddy remarks. They were all deserved

I had basically the same two days, only I played Spyglass the first day. Absolutely diabolical from the back tees. Everything felt like it played at 120% of actual length, from tee to green. I finished in the mid 90's with a few lost interest walking putts. I went to Pebble the next day and felt like I had the same swing and shot 80 from a mix of tees due to tournament prep.
The only other course that I felt embarrassingly overwhelmed was Champions in Houston on a damp day.

Oakborne, Lafayette. 2004 state Amateur…I didn’t break 90 for two days. Went home that weekend and shot 70, 71 at the home course. It killed me

Always get sick enjoyment watching people play it for the first time

Most people 3- or 4-putt the first 6 greens before they finally realize not to hit it so hard
It's really interesting to watch the college classics tournament every year, those college golfers struggle so much on holes they think should be easy

I have "degreened" a couple of putts there. I love it. If you play well you can score. If you are missing a lot of greens it gets brutal

Wanamaker Course at the PGA Club in Port St. Lucie
That one just does not "fit my eye," or my game.

Quintero in Phoenix for me. Shot a 93 as a 4hcp after shooting a 73 at my home course 2 days prior.

When you play Champions for the first time, it hard to grasp that most of the greens there are so huge.
Sometimes 2-3 clubs difference.
It was really tough before range finders.
