At the range at least 4 times a week between Clark and Santa Maria. Course just in my head I guess.

The course as originally designed could be a bear before they mowed the native areas back so much. You had to drive it really well and they had that talcum powder sand in the bunkers in the early days as well. #RIP OG LaTour

Did you actually use driver and 3 wood

Yes all day. You have to play the right tees, and the fairway widens at that point.

Yep. Doubled 18 because I think I hit every dang bunker.

The old Lagoon Legend in Panama City, Fl. before the reno. Played it 4 times and when I thought I had a handle on it, boom, triples, doubles come a running. No telling how many balls I lost on that trip. Bluffs from the tips is bad arse as well.

The only time I played it, I shot even. It’s really not that hard

You and I may be the only ones that like that course lol. I play it every summer with my friend that stays on property, our families usually vacation the same week.

It's definitely not fun if you're not hitting it straight, but it is always in outstanding condition and not very crowded. Lush fairways and nice greens. Probably because so many people stay away from it

Okabourne kicks my arse every weekend and I've been playing there for 12 years

I have a lot of days out there where I am striking the ball so well, and really can't think of a shot that I'd want back or do something different, and still shoot 85.

Lowest score ever there was 78 this year and it's the only time I've broken 80 there in 12 years. (I'm a 9 index). I basically had all time highs in FW and GIR hit that round. It's the only way to go low there. You just absolutely cannot miss off the tee. Even some fairway hits leave you no shot to the green (left FW on #12 and #16 the biggest examples)

Hardest part about the course IMO is how hard it is to get up and down for par if you miss greens. You really have to have soft hands around the green and know where to land shots because the greens are so firm and fast, you get so much roll out. And most of your misses end up being short sided, downhill lie to a downhill green, etc

1st time I played Tempest in Gladewater/Tyler Texas.

Went by myself and hit so many what I thought were good shots on some blind shots then get up there and can't find my ball. I was frustrated throughout the entire round. Don't even know what I shot. High 80's I'm sure. Highest round of the year.

Next time I went with some guys that had played it before and gave me some tips/yardage advice. Shot 76 from the 1 ups. Was very happy with that round.

Played Royal Birkdale a month ago. Winds blowing 55mph and rain. This 3 handicap shot a smooth 88. Usually hit wedge or nine iron 150 yards, hit 5 iron and still came up 20 yards short. Caddie said Jordan Speith would shoot 80 today.

River Place CC in Austin

I'll vote for River Place CC as well. Miss the fairway by a foot and you're not in the rough, your ball is gone in a damn canyon. I played 18 there coming off of a heater and got absolutely humbled. Ashamed to even try to think back to how many balls I lost there.

I think both courses you mentioned that I’ve played (Walden and Riverplace) are near impossible if you’re playing them for the first time without a good golfer. You have to hit so many tee shots to precise yardages which are blind. Difference is with Walden you’re generally in the trees (sometimes houses) if you miss and Riverplace you’re off a cliff if you miss.

For sure. It's a little over an hour from me. I've only been a few times but it's a pretty impressive course. The putting green is as good as it gets.

I haven't used it but on the golf now app they'll have deals for $40 green fees. Normally $90.

I remember Greg Norman was doing an exhibition at Walden Lake Conroe years ago and he tried to hit that island par 5 in two three times and didn't get there.

1st stage of Q School was just there and not a single player made birdie on one of the days. Played at a 5.7 scoring average for professional golfers. Insane.

I think it’s a cool view, but a terrible golf hole.

Absolutely a brutal hole at Walden with any wind at all.

I remember they had a few Q schools at Waterwood National and it crushed the field. Seems like Freddie Couples got his tour card there.

I forgot about River Place. Diabolical. The Vandergrif HS team plays there
