Name a Course that beat you down even though you were playing your best at the time.

I will never forget playing Colony West in Florida. I was 5 hcp at the time and shot 94.

Every hole was a beast in one way or another. I play Doral Blue Monster the following day and it felt like a executive course compared to Colony West.

Summary -

The Championship Course, opened in 1971 for the Jackie Gleason Classic (renamed the Honda Classic) as a monstrous par-72, 7,553-yard track, Jack Nicklaus and the Tournament Committee said the course was too tough for the event. 52 of the 137 bunkers were removed, but Mr. Nicklaus still shot a 78 and took a 7 on No. 3 (No. 12 today).

Forgot to mention, Colony West has been shorten by 400 yards now and the course rating is still 75.1

For some reason, Kiva Dunes always beats me down. The first hole is fine, then it's all downhill from there.

Locally, Santa Maria kills me. I haven’t played in a long time, so I need to try it again.

My lowest round on a par 72 course was at Santa Maria. Had a birdie putt on 18 for 69, but missed for a 70. One of 3 under par rounds in my life. Shot a 67 at Pelican Point Lakes (par 70) and a 71 at Webb (par 72). It's been a couple of years, though.

I agree UClub makes me look like a fool. I’ve never had a good round there. I four putted from 13’ there one time.

I played Torrey South in the run up to the 2008 US Open. They had grown the rough up quite a bit and the greens were crazy fast. I played from the PGA Tour tees (not US open tees) just to say I had. I shot 107 with no penalty shots, no lost balls and hit the ball well that day.

The Bridges in Biloxi. Think you hit a good drive, nope, there’s water there. This was before GPS. I lost a ton of balls that first time. Probably shot 95 as a single digit. Now I find it fairly easy. But that initial round was a doozy.

U club gets me for sure. Really there are only a few holes that are super difficult so I should play well but a couple bogies and it’s all over. I’m sure it’s all mental. CCL is actually pretty difficult as well IMO. Fallen oak is another one that should be easier than it seems to be.

I was a member at Walden on Lake Conroe so I enjoy punishment. Carlton Woods Nicklaus usually does me raw too.

It's was Latour for me. I was down to 7hcp and when they opened we started going play it. 88, 90, 92...round after round. Couldn't explain it. Then out of the blue one day, bam...74. 34/40. Crazy.

U Club too. Never had that break-through round there yet.
