Greystone…I almost feel no thought went into the design. Good shots will penalize you. Bad shots are rewarded. I still love playing it. Makes the others around here easy.

When it opened the River Place CC in Austin was the most unfair golf course that I have ever played.

I don't care how good of a player you are, you first time playing it, you would lose a half dozen balls.

If you hit the wrong side of the fairway, your ball was probably lost.

The membership got so fed up with it and they had it redesigned to be more forgiving.

The Hombre (RIP) in Panama City. Played there in second stage of Q school twice and shot a million there both times. Narrow and windy =\= a good combination.

I've probably played several dozen major championship courses including a couple that many would consider among the most difficult golf courses in the country, but I do not understand for the life of me how the pros shoot 15 - 20 under every year at Seaside on Sea Island. That course just absolutely eats my shite up even when I am playing well.

River Course at Blackwolf is insanely difficult at least for me when they've got the greens running. Long, no room to miss anywhere, and greens running at 14 or something stupid.

Sneaky entry - Pete Dye course at French Lick will kick your arse even when you're playing well.

You'll see Dubsdread at Cog Hill on some lists like that, and I go the other way on that one. Some tough holes, but I've played not great and still managed to score on that track. Chambers Bay is kinda similar - just a big open ballpark so you can miss it a bit.

City park Baton Rouge. Cannot play that course well no matter how hard I try. Left driver in the truck, tee off with 7 iron on the par 4's, nothing works. Making #5 a par 3 makes it a little better but the rest of the holes will make up for it in damage.

That’s probably the easiest course I’ve ever played besides the one up in Clinton.

It’s a son of biotch

Anyone remember Waterwood National North of Houston.

That was a beast.

Summary -

Pete Dye created Waterwood to be one of the toughest courses in America. For several decades, Waterwood has set the standard for difficult, relentless golf. From the first tee shot to the final putt on #18,

Was waiting on Greystone to be posted I can't begin to describe the frustration this course brings.. I'm convinced it was designed to steal your balls..

I have found leaving the Driver in the car is ok with this course..

Hate to say it but if you’re in trouble at city park then you need to be at the range and not a course.

I played Shoal Creek the week after the PGA. Shot 78 and played great. Only missed 1 fairway and made double there. Every missed green was a bogey because of the rough. Greens were brutally fast. Never been so happy to 3 putt in my life on one hole.

The only time I played it, I shot even. It’s really not that hard
Did you actually use driver and 3 wood

Yes, if you drive with your 6 iron it’s very manageable

And that’s just what everyone wants in a vacation golf course, taking 6 iron of every tee
