It has been a nice steady flow of B52s out of Barksdale today over my house. It is usually Reserves practicing touch/go landings but last night was different. Any posters stationed at BAFB?

Dont turn into the Maples, be the Oaks.
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
They say, "The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light"
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw
Thumbs up purely on the RUSH reference. That's quality :dude:

The company is worth whatever they (majority stock owner) want it to be worth. In your example of paying you out over 5 years, and they don't have to start until 5 years from now, they could decide that the shares are worth $0.00001/share when its time to pay you. No way in hell I'm investing money in a private company where I have no control over valuation or decision making. Even worse if you no longer work for the company and have 0 insight into how the business is doing. Roll that ESOP into 401K funds bf you leave then roll that old 401 into your new 401.
That is complete bullshite! An ESOP is an ERISA Plan subject to the Department of Labor regulations, an annual independent valuation and oversight of a Trustee.

re: NE Dems push repeal of "right to shelter laws" amid illegal influx
Posted by The General on 9/12/23 at 8:08 am to Strannix
I have said this a thousand times. The most racist people I have personally been around in my entire life were my very liberal law school classmates from the NE. The ones from Mass, Conn & NY were the worst. They constantly accused us few from the SEC states as being racist for no reason beyond where we come from but they constantly made racist statements and believe that ALL blacks had to be helped by whites. This was during the early 90’s in Michigan so I’m assuming it has gotten substantially worse.

Staying in West Point - Old Waverly CC. Huck’s in downtown Columbus is my favorite spot for dinner. Anthony’s in West Point is #2 but you need to call for a reservation.
re: Man abandons wife at airport, boarding the flight without her....
Posted by The General on 9/6/23 at 2:33 pm to SteelerBravesDawg
I have personally witnessed something almost exactly like this and it was my employee's wife. Heading to a conference in Aruba and I invited them to attend. We had a tight connection in Miami and I was very clear to them to go straight to the gate and being International, be prepared to reshow your passport. She didn't travel much and was already pissing me and my wife off because she didn't like that there were planned events & dinners at the conference, which is normal.
She decides to go shopping in the airport and talking on the phone. Wife & I get to Gate and see we have time to get a drink at the bar next to the Gate. Employee shows up 10 minutes later without his wife. I just look at him and he shrugs (I can tell he is mad as hell). My wife is looking at Facebook or some shite and sees where this dumbass is posting pics in the airport but she is in the wrong part of the airport. She got turned around somehow. I tell my employee and he starts trying to call her and she refuses to answer. We know she read the text messages.
Airline starts calling Groups to board. I told him he had a decision to make. His answer was "No Sir I don't." He waited to the last possible moment but he got on after having the Gate Agent page her for 10 minutes. When she finally called him, she was crying and didn't know what to do. He told her to go see the AA people and get a ticket home because she could not come to Aruba as he had her passport. I found out after the fact that she had pitched a fit about being "responsible" with keeping up with her passport and put it in his backpack. He had forgotten and tells me he would not have gotten on the flight if he had remembered - and had planned to put her on next flight. Screwed that up!
It was the funniest and most awkward situation at the same time. My guy calls his mother-in-law and tells him what had happened. The MIL text both of them and rips into her daughter for her actions. Tells the SIL to have a good time even though its a business trip and that she will pick her up at DFW.
They stayed married (shockingly), he stills works for me, she has apologized to me & wife a hundred times, and she has not been invited again to a Conference out of the country since.

re: Ireland trip late August
Posted by The General on 7/20/23 at 8:55 am to nobigdeal69
I have been to SW Ireland three times and Scotland five. Be prepared for weather changes and I'm not kidding. I played Old Head in low 80's and got a nice sunburn. The next day it was low 50's with on/off rain at Lahinch. The very next day at Ballybunion we varied in temps between high 40's to mid 60's in a 5 hour time frame. Invest in a great rain suit, rain gloves and wear layers. I usually wear shorts and just put on rain pants if it gets to cold. I also recommend putting an extra pair of socks in a ziplock and place in your golf bag. Wet feet sucks.
Waterville is a great golf course.

re: Help planning a golf trip to Scotland

I have been to Scotland five times since 2010 and a member at Fortrose & Rosemarkie north of Inverness. I can give you a couple of names to help you handle things or give you some pointers if you want to try to do much on your own (save a shitload of money). Still expensive. Email me at 22gardencourt@gmail.com
St. Andrews Old Course - only way to guarantee a tee time has been going through a travel company like Hidden Links, Fairways to Heaven, Celtic Golf, etc. they will want to book your entire trip.
Last time I played Old Course was 2018 and I found a local who booked a time for me and two others and played with him. We “tipped” him $60£ each on top of the green fee. Still cheaper than having to stay at Old Course Hotel to guarantee a time.
Also know, it is busy as hell for golf in Scotland right now and in the foreseeable future. I was there at the end of June and the courses I played this last trip are already booked up for 2023.

re: Californians flee to Mexico to escape cost of living
Posted by The General on 6/16/22 at 4:41 pm to deltaland
Have a friend in Orange County that bought a small place in Mexico in 2006 as a vacation home that is right on the Pacific. It is a 2:20 hour drive door to door right off Mexico 1D. He said they never planned on moving there but now it is most likely what will happen within five years. The COL in California is getting to the breaking point for him, his last kid gets out of the house in two years and his family owned 4th generation company is going to move to Arizona. Changed his mind when a hospital was built a few miles away with a ownership from US.
re: Anyone stayed at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana, Dominican?
Posted by The General on 5/10/22 at 4:28 pm to TOPAL
I have been - 6 years ago this month. Enjoyed somewhat but will not go back as there are better places in Punta Cana, like Cap Cana. The food was good, party pool was fun, golf course on property, okay casino and nice entertainment at night.
Downside: Timeshare sales people; very big property and loud with lots of kids (if you have your family then not an issue I guess); too many walk up vendors on the beach and they constantly up in your space (reason my wife will not go back); spa is nice but they run you through like cattle - was not relaxing at all.
The Sanctuary is my favorite with just my wife. Casa de Campo is my #1 with family and friends trip because of the golf and number of restaurants, plus the water seems better, plus you can rent a house. Draw back is the beach area is small.

Anyone received the Employee Retention Credit?
Posted by The General on 4/26/22 at 11:43 am
Has anyone filed for the ERC (Employee Retention Credit) for their company and actually received the credit? If YES, what was your timeframe?
We filed in early fall of 2021 knowing that it would not be received before the end of the year, but fulling expecting it to come before Tax Deadline. The ERC is taxable (okay) but it sucked to include in the calculations but not received. It sucks for Sub-Chapter S corps. I got some pissed off shareholders. Thanks in advance for any non-OT answers.
