Stores like Gamestop would lose all the money they make off of used games.

Gamefly would also go out of business since games would only be attachable to a single account.

would they have a legal case against MS/Sony?

People scoffed at the notion that Microsoft wouldn't be the only one to do this. If this happens, it's got to be across the board acceptance of this idea.

Why?

Because consoles have watered down/screwed up PC gaming. But I was only partially serious.

Gamefly might, since their entire business plan is based upon renting games to multiple individuals.

I don't see how Gamestop or any other used game stores would though.

I'm no lawyer though, so what do I know?

It's interesting to see if they may. Once you purchase something it is yours to do as you please as long as you don't break any laws obviously. Sony sued the kid that hacked PS3 a while back to run home brew on it but dropped it's case after pressure from Anonymous but even yet I don't think any company has won a case like that.

Didn't Apple sue the kid that first jail broke the iPhone only to lose?

I would assume games that were designed for consoles and cheaply ported to PC?

Thought so.

Another thing this will lead to is just more pirating of games. Someone will figure how to bypass the system and allow pirated games. People already do it on Xbox and PS systems that they keep offline to not be tracked.

The only problem here is with a user agreement. Lets take Microsoft. You purchase a LIVE account and frick around on it, they take it from you. Or ban it. You don't get it back. You get no use from it. This is revolving around something called collusion. The 2 companies are getting together to move in a general direction. Albeit a direction which will alienate an entire group of people and be horrible for business.

If you buy that game under their agreement, you take it as it is and agree to their terms. fricked.

I don't see how they would...people still have the choice in a free market system to buy what they want. And they would buy the consoles knowing the rules and regs that come with them. Not sure stores like Gamestop would have any say-so as companies like Sony or MS don't owe them shite.

Oh well. Nature of the beast. The same gets done to consoles on games so you win some...you lose some.

No way Gamestop would have a case. Business models get submarined every day. They don't own any rights to used games.

Interesting question. As I'm sure the first to do it will be deemed the evil brother and the other is just doing it because the other brother is.

I'm sure I'll be playing my PS3 for quite some time. There's no way the PS4 is under $600. They already broke that mold and people were more than willing to buy it, myself included. I remember leaving Wal-marks with a comma in the total. I don't even remember what I bought.
