In this hypothetical of an all digital console world...

How much size would the console need? Probably a lot.

HD size = $

If new console $ exceeds a new PC $, why buy a console.

fewer consoles purchased due to high prices... Less demand for console digital downloads, with unlimited supply.

Or you could just have something like Steam which allows you to delete and redownload any purchases you have made. Considering that damn near everything is moving towards cloud based storage anyway, I see this as a definite possibility.

If those are the controllers, they look terrible. I already can't stand the PS controllers. Xbox are designed much better.

Interesting. Another factor that drives up the cost of these consoles, though.

Consoles need to stay, on the average, cheaper than pcs, or they have lost their competitive advantage (seems to be the consensus in this thread).

So console makers need to consider all of this very carefully, or people won't buy their shite and they go out of business.

I would not be a fan of having to wait on a 60 minute-5 hour Download on my console to play a game I bought new, 6 months ago.

Thus, along with absurd pricing, elimination of the used game market, and with pc being a competitor for gamers $, console demand decreases. As console demand decreases while console prices increase and supply stays constant...what happens? bad shite

they need to find a nice middle ground between the two. the xbox controller feel much more durable but also feels a bit heavy to me. the ps3 controller could definitely be bigger but not quite as big as the xbox controller.

i bitched about this the other night, but i hate that the "select" and "start" buttons are soft and rubber. my select button is starting to get wore out from spotting people

I think the worst part about the PS controllers is the location of the left joystick.

is that because you are more familiar with the xbox controller? because i feel the left joystick seems odd when playing on the xbox

To each their own.

back when i switched from original xbox to the ps3, it felt odd. but now, the joysticks being symmetrical just feels more relaxed to me.

Gamestop will be pissed.

This could destroy their entire business model.

Console consumers will be pissed if these nextgen consoles don't have a used game market and require an arm and a leg to purchase

I would be for sure. If it turns out that way, I might go ahead and retire and just use this old xbox I have for movies and whatnot.

whats going to be bad is when microsoft blocks all games from being played on PCs, forcing PC gamers to either buy a mac or build a linux system if they dont want to play on a console.

evil bastards.......
