The IPA and Hoppy movement is an getting to levels I can't handle.

We need more Belgian inspired ales, blondes, and beers with some muscle.

The IPA movement has slowed it seems to me. Sours and big Imperial Stouts seem to be more en vogue these days.

Americans still do love their hops though.

Because they're delicious, that's why.

Taste is subjective. Drink what you want.

Now if you want to discuss how much you like belgian style ales, by all means go ahead.

what do you mean? the new IPAs are the anti IPAs as they are moving away from bitter, piney and resinous to juice bombs

if you don't like hops, you should love the new IPAs

Why is that? Not sure what you mean by "can't handle".

Blonde ales have “muscle”? Thats like one of if not the most boring style of beer.

Americans drank the same stuff (lagers and pilsners) until light beer came along which was just lighter versions of the same thing. Hops were the first thing to get tweaked. Sam Adams Boston Lager was just a hoppy lager. Then the real micro brew thing took off. Much easier to hop the hell out of something and make it drinkable and repeatable.

It has really branched our now, but hops may still be king for a long time.

I hate hops too and wish brewery's would focus more on other things. There are some amazing things being done with porters and stouts if you look and IMO it's becoming a bit more prominent. Would love for everyone to be obsessed with that the way people are obsessed with hops now tho
