There are some amazing things being done with porters and stouts if you look and IMO it's becoming a bit more prominent. Would love for everyone to be obsessed with that the way people are obsessed with hops now tho

I'd say the craft beer world is pretty obsessed with stouts, especially barrel aged stouts

those just take a bit more time than hops

breweries can pump out different hope releases pretty easily compared to big BA stouts

Blonde ales have “muscle”? Thats like one of if not the most boring style of beer.

That's some poor reading comprehension there. baw.

quote:

Belgian inspired ales, blondes, and beers with some muscle

Those are three separate items/topics as indicated by the commas.

In other words, he shortened his point into one sentence rather than three.

Ex: We need more Belgian inspired ales. We need more blondes. We need more beers with some muscle.

All then condensed into one sentence. The magic of structure!

All the rage now. Everyone has a bourbon barrel aged stout.

I'm waiting for the French quarter temptress right now. Bourbon barrel aged coffee and chicory.

Part of that is just the time of year. It seems like a lot right now, but then it will taper off and you won't see them again until November when everyone releases them again.

I don't taste any chicory in it....which is why I like it.

Couldn't be happier about this. But there are a lot of shitty ones out there.

I usually stock up this time of year to get me through summer and fall.

Yea that's why I said it's become more prominent. It seems people are barrel aging everything and I love it!!

I often wished I was into something as easy and quick to produce as hoppy beer

Some productive conversation here....I think the biggest issue I have here is not that I don't like IPAs, I can drink one in a sitting.

However, it seems small crafts have focused on this genre as their main source of creativity. I, for one, feel as though its become hurtful to great breweries because of the hyper focus on hops.

Parish, for example, ghost in the machine is an excellent brew. However, this cash cow has made them have tunnel vision for hops.

Sure, if you ignore their new belgian quad, their barleywine, their imperial stout, their coffee stout, their barrel aged imperial maple stout, their wheat, their amber, the various sours they've done but not bottled, and the new SIPS stuff they're going to work on, all they do is IPAs.

Their quad sucks....their barleywine sucks, their stouts aren't even in the same stratosphere of stone.

The various sours are for hipsters.

All they do good is IPAs......now you get the point?
