are there better cheaper alternatives for ryes?

I really like Martin Wine Cellar's barrel pick of High West Double Rye. Think ~$41

I use ratio of 1:1, normally 1 cup water to 1 cup sugar, but it just depends how much you are using in a drink. I use 1 bar spoonfulls. Sometimes I add some orange or satsumas to the pot also...

Y’all ever tried dark brown sugar simple syrup? Ever since I tasted Social’s Old fashioned, it’s all I use. Good shite, adds a lil molasses flavor.

SingleMaltScotch, or other scotch drinkers.

Any recommendations for some entry level scotches? I drink mostly bourbon but would like to branch in to scotches. I'd ideally like to start with some lower level ones with less of a peat/smoke/bite to them and work my way up.

Has anyone had one of these? It doesn't look like an at-home drink I am willing to put the time and effort into...
