You guys probably talk about this a lot but I don’t frequent this board so bear with me please.
Doesn’t matter if fine dining or dive or what cuisine.
What do you think is the best restaurant in Baton Rouge?

My personal opinion? Umami. Get the Omakase (blind chefs tasting menu) and kick back for a great lineup.
Not fine dining at all, but the guys at Merchant know what they're doing when it comes to cooking. The specials they run throughout the week are always really great.

If I was living in a town other than Baton Rouge and I came here for a visit, the one place I would have to go is The Chimes.

Maison LaCour
I have to give this place another try. Went for my birthday a couple years ago due to the hype, and we were the only people in the restaurant during peak time on a Thursday night. The lights were daylight-bright and there was no background noise or even music, so we awkwardly whispered while the server stood nearby.
Food was good from what I remember, but it was so awkward we left as soon as possible and went to drink wine somewhere else.

My top 4:
Louisiana Lagniappe
Umami
Roberto’s River Road
Ruffino’s

Maison Lacour is the best, followed by Umami.
Anyone who says Juban's is out of their mind. That place is one of the most overrated restaurants I've ever been to.

I love Elsie’s.
Not in the upper echelon of BR restaurants but I think their menu is unique and delicious.

I went to a wine dinner at Jubans and was embarrassed for them
