What the 2021 crawfish season will look like for Louisiana

Last year’s warm winter brought in greater numbers and sizes of crawfish than the average year. But the hurricanes, financial hardships and cold weather of 2020 put 2021’s crawfish season into question. Those working in the crawfish industry expect a close-to-normal year—fewer crawfish and fewer customers but if nothing closes, the year will end strong.

He predicts that by mid-March, crawfish prices and supply will be in line with where they usually are during the heart of the season.
Signal to the mafia. Raise prices.
Here we go!

I have a feeling it will be great season regarding increased demand. Nothing cures the soul of a shitty year like some hot crawfish and cold beer. Don't know the numbers, but I feel like the industry thrives on takeout for the most part. Seems like the business is immune to most covid restrictions.

Speaking as a crawfish farmer,
It is currently too cold. Please check back next week for another update.

Blah blah bla, expect prices to be high.
Same excuse different year.
They will be plentiful, expect to pay.

Oil prices went up. Costs more to harvest.
Oil prices went down. Local baws are buying less so they have to ship longer distances and that costs more.

I heard prices are going up because ______.

In these uncertain times, expect high prices just like the certain times.

There’s a baw over in Breaux Bridge that will keep you supplied all season for a Bitcoin if you commit now.

Doesn't matter. I'm buying my sacks using free gubment money. Win/win.

Didn’t realize this kept the crawfish from reproducing

The Crawfish industry is about as big of a racket as the diamond industry.

The bottom line is they'll have crawfish and we'll pretty much pay whatever. People still won't have shite to do for the next few months and all of the festivals will be cancelled. There will be tons of backyard boils again this year.

At least there is potential for the supply of crawfish to be limited. Diamonds have never been and will never be rare. Convincing the general public of the world that diamonds are rare may been the greatest grift of all time.

The new strain of CRAWVID21 is going make prices skyrocket.

Arizona???
Utah???
Nebraska???

Can you tell us why?
Tell us how the general public is getting screwed
How many sacks a day should the avg farmer catch in January?
Tell us the cost of land rent/ traps/boats/ irrigation/ labor / fuel
Tell us how many acres there are in the US - how many pound they produce and when and how many pounds are consumed
Tell us the cost of transporting/sorting/ boiling/peeling/etc

I still don’t understand why anyone would choose crawfish over shrimp for boils. More meat
