The cheese cake from Ruth's Chris is damn good. Also a family member makes a bread pudding out of donuts that is incredible.

Last few nights I had some homemade blackberry cobbler (with berries I picked, actually dewberries) with vanilla ice cream, and it was amazingly good. Just hard to beat that. I make it once or twice a year after I pick the berries around the neighborhood, and I always forget just how good it is until I make it again.

My mom’s bread pudding was unsurpassed but the best thing I’ve had recently was a Bruleed Banana Split from The Dakota last weekend. They had a bananas foster sauce for it that was delicious. I think I can replicate it.

Honestly, I can't really say. My wife is a great dessert maker, so I have so many to choose from. Creme brûlée, key lime pie, coconut cake made with reduced coconut milk, various chocolate cakes, peach and blueberry pies and cobbler, brown butter chocolat chip cookies with sea salt, turtle cheesecake, etc.. They are all so good I can't pick. One thing I will say is that restaurant desserts are usually a let down.

I do have fond memories of the bread pudding soufflé at Commanders.

The first time I ate the Krispy Kreme bread pudding at Boucherie.

The bread pudding at Fremin’s in Thibodaux is great.

The fried ice cream at the Chi Chi's that was on the access road between Florida and Airline in the 1980s. Probably the single best thing I've ever put in my mouth.
