Love the lobster. One thing I miss about being in the NE.

Check out the lobster tank.
Make friends.
Eat them.

Aside from the chargrilled oysters?
Pretty much irrelevant after the oysters. Maybe the lobster and a salad. The oysters rock, though.

Drago's doesn't pretend to be a fine dining experience, and their prices reflect the type of meal you can expect there. If you compare Drago's to other similarly priced restaurants they are better than the posters on this site give them crediit for.

When they have the stuffed soft shell crab dish, it's pretty good.

FTW!!!!!!!!!
I either get the stuffed crab or lobster.......
I find their fried seafood to be very bland and below par.

$15 for a po boy is ridiculous. We went there over Mardi Gras and two in our party got Po Boys with fries that a.) looked average at best and b.) were near $30 together. Just stick with the oysters.

Oyster Empire...... lobsters are also solid

I went a couple weeks ago so wife could get some charbroiled....
Ordered the "SHUCKEE DUCKEE - Blackened duck breast over linguini pasta with oysters and cream sauce"
I would certainly call it above average. I enjoyed it. That said, I went in with low expectations and the plan to have some cold pops and oysters only.

what is it about places that do chargrilled oysters very well, but everything else on the menu is just meh to suck ?

I had the stuffed lobster there last time it was pretty good and a resonable price. However the lobster could have been cooked a little less.

I agree that they are a little overpriced. Also, the Fat City location is a much better experience than the Hilton one.
Drago's is one of the few places that I give a pass too as far as value, etc. Tommy is just so damn giving and I have been on the receiving end of his charity stuff many times, so I will support his place.
For 6 years in a row now I have went to a very nice charity event for Children's Hospital and every year Drago's is there cooking oysters all night long. As many as you want you can have.
Our kids school fair has them come cook oysters one night and we make a ton of $$$. Know several charity event stories.
Don't forget all of the free meals they gave out for weeks after Katrina.
And Tommy has been bringing his firetruck out to the Crescent City Classic race course and giving out beer and Jaigermeister, etc.
So yeah, it is a little bit pricier than most places, but you have to support those who give back.

This is my problem with the place. Nearly every entree has some Cream Sauce. Not for me.

I would recommend the artichoke soup if available. It was very good last time I had it. Had a huge artichoke bottom/heart in the center of the bowl.
