Louisville

They are UPS hub. Get very fresh seafood, and exotic foods as a result.

Lots of walkable areas with great restaurants and bars.

I loved living in Louisville.

Birmingham has really gotten better over the past 5 years or so considering it certainly isn't renowned as a food City I don't think. Highlands Bar and Grill won a James Beard award last year or 2018. Automatic Seafood and Oyster is a finalist this year. Pretty decent brewery and bar scene too for a city of its size.

Idk about underrated, but I'd put Athens, Ga up against almost any town of its size.

Birmingham has been considered one of the up and coming food scenes in the country for several years now.

Not sure it's really even underrated - pretty consistently rated near the top of mid-sized American cities.

As one example, only four metro areas of under 3 million people have ever hosted Top Chef: Las Vegas, Charleston, New Orleans, and Louisville.

Zagats called Birmingham an up-coming-coming food city a few years back.

Have a few James Beard winners operating here.

I just moved to bham from Jackson and I was very surprised at all the good local restaurants.

So far I’ve hit up automatic seafood, bamboo on 2nd, east west, gianmarcos, pizzeria GM, jack browns (small chain I think) and they’ve all been excellent.

Gianmarcos is some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had

I tend to think Tucson is pretty underrated, but I'm a homer.

What cities have an underrated food scene

Birmingham, AL, if all the restaurants stay open after the China Flu.

I've said this for years: I think Portland, Maine has the most underrated food scene in the country.
