Going to an Indian restaurant for the first time Saturday and I need some recommendations.
I'm fine with spice but have not had curry, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Chicken Tikka Masala is a nice starter dish as an intro. Technically created in the UK, but a very popular Indian dish in America.

My favorite is Vindaloo. Nice spicy flavor that's good with lamb or chicken.

Go ham bro! Vindaloo is delicious as well as most curries. They'll make it arse burning hot if you like but I'm a medium heat guy myself.

Chana Sag, it's a spinach and chickpea dish, very healthy if you hold the naan bread.

Pakoras are a great appetizer. Biryani is my favorite rice dish.

Good recommendations. Be sure to get some naan bread.

And don't overlook vegetable dishes. Saag paneer (spinach with cheese) and bhindi masala (okra in tomato curry sauce) are damned good.

Don't be intimidated - it's really not that different than typical western cuisine. Indian cuisine is probably the most vegetarian friendly in the world, so don't be hesitant to order a dish that doesn't have meat.

My typical Indian meal is vegetable samosas, lentils, and chicken vindaloo with plenty of naan.

I usually go samosas, garlic Naan and Baingan Bartha (pureed eggplant, peas, tomatoes, other delicious stuff). I'm not even really a proponent of eggplant but that particular dish is amazing.

I love Indian food. I'm a big fan of their spice profile.

And a Mango Lassi to drink. Its a mango flavored sorta smoothie and really puts out the fire in your mouth from the spiciness. They usually have other flavors besides mango.

Vindaloo? What a way to start. If you like heat that is the way to go.

I was going to suggest butter chicken to start lol.

I'd go with this or butter chicken for my first experience with Indian food

Chana Sag is delicious. If you want meat and don't mind it being spicy I'd also recommend the Vindaloo.

It's not really all that spicy, if you are use to a good cajun cuisine. Curry is a blend of spicys, so there's really not 1 kind of curry.
