What are the top 5 places to get dinner in BR currently? I'm not looking for nostalgia so no need to include pastime , chimes, etc.

Since you mentioned two casual, sports bar-restaurants, I’m going to assume you aren’t looking for something fancy.

Roux 61
Gino’s
Louisiana Lagniappe
Parrain’s

In no particular order. You can get a good meal at any of these.

Why can’t BR have even 20% of what the “NO under the radar” thread had?

I don't eat in BR often, but I had a good burger at Overpass Merchant recently.

I've never been to Ruffino's but I heard it was very good. It didn't make any of the lists of top 5. Opinions on Ruffino's?

We went there once. It was good. But we've never been back again. It's far from our house and there are places we like more that are closer to us, like Digiulio Brothers or Rocca.

Elsies is the only restaurant in BR that has ever impressed me. I eat there often.

Just going by personal preference and consistency in what I've had. Obviously everyone has different tastes and experiences that color where they come down.

Nino's - Never had a bad meal, change the menu frequently enough to keep things fresh and different, wait staff went through turnover lately which I didn't care for but the food was still outstanding

Eliza - Favorite casual, "Louisiana"-style restaurant in BR. Nice sized menu with different things so good for a group who can't decide specifically what they want to eat when picking a restaurant.

Rocca - Think it's the best pizza joint in the city; good happy hour and solid non-pizza dishes.

Mansur's - Of the fancier places in town, it's my favorite. Deduct points for whatever they did to the lighting last time. Think they swtiched to those white LED bulbs. Felt like I was eating in an office building instead of a restaurant. Food was still great.

Zorba's - BR has always done Greek/Lebanese well. I think that Zorba's is the best of them all.

Your results/opinion may vary.

Ruffino's is good, but not what it used to be. Owner opened up a second location in Lafayette and spends more time out there.

That said the food isn't bad. Still a solid option if you live nearby but I wouldn't make a long drive if you don't.

We ate at the BR ruffinos once and hated.

However, the meal at the Lafayette one was excellent.

Maison Lacour and Beausoliel should be on the list, IMO. Not sure about the other 3 off the top of my head.

I was hesitant to say Beausoliel, because didn't they get a new chef in the past year or so? We haven't eaten there in a while, but we always enjoyed the meals we had. It kind of got outstripped by places like Rocca and Overpass.

Do people still go to Stroube’s? I don’t hear it being talked about on here as much as it was a few years ago.
