I like them, though I’ve only eaten at the one in Bham once. The one her is on the small side with only a handful of options. Food prices are fine, but the bar prices seemed extreme.

We have one in Charlotte called Optimist Hall. It's a mixed use place with a lot of good little food joints. Most also run local food trucks.

Strolling around and looking at the offerings and not feeling obligated is a plus. I like places in New York like Chelsea Market, Eataly and Gansevoort Market and would rather spend time there instead of at Sak's or Bloomingdale's any day.

They are pretty popular here in the Raleigh-Durham area.. Not really my thing but the Burial taproom is attached to one so we inevitably end up in that one.

They're building a big one in here in downtown Nashville. I'm excited not for the food, but because it'll keep the tourists more contained to downtown. Ive eaten in my fair share of food halls when visiting other places. They're not my preferred place to dine, but usually makes for a good lunch between sight-seeing.

I work right by Pizitz food hall in Birmingham, I love it. It's good to meet the wife there for lunch if we both aren't wanting the same thing we can both get something we want.

We have one a few blocks away from our office, so that is nice when 5+ people want to go to lunch and can't decide. Really anytime there is some indecision in a group it is a solid place to go.

I loved the couple we went to in Madrid. Nothing like a glass of sangria and a bunch of different tapas for a euro or less a piece.

They are ideal for work lunches, so everyone can order what they want and pay for it themselves.

Also nice for new concept restaurants to get into a brick and mortar space without all the overhead of a full restaurant.

Have one near me in Plano called Legacy Hall. Pretty cool spot. First two levels are restaurants and the third level is a brewery. There's also an outdoor area that hosts concerts so it's multi-purpose. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

What are your thoughts on Food Halls?

Like Faneuil Hall?

Portland, OR has a ton of outdoor food cart pods. Same concept, but not that expensive.

In Indy we have the City Market. Pretty cool, but I have only been a couple of times.

Pizitz Food Hall in Birmingham is okay, but it is nothing special.

If a food hall is done right, they are a ton of fun and really good.

Foodhallen in Amsterdam is fantastic. Really good food and a wide variety of offerings. Bar has a ton of options. It is actually a fun place to go hang out and drink and have a good time.

No, Faneuil is more of an outdoor shopping area with a concentrated cluster of restaurants. This is a large indoor space where currently existing restaurants open a food court-style stand and serve a limited menu. Customers can get as many items from as many different places as they'd like, then sit in a communal area.

Great concept. The Auction House Market (RIP) in New Orleans was a fun place to sit, eat, and people watch.

It was great for restaurant hopping. With it's close proximity to Pëche & Sofia.

Two new accounts bump a 3 year old thread to proclaim their love for food halls?

The Pythian Market one just closed too. I guess St Roch Market is still hanging on by a thread.

Looks to be a fad that’s about passed. Or maybe it’s just New Orleans.

The Nashville hot chicken sandwich from Bird Haus at Underground Hall in Houston is pretty damn tasty. I think so far my favorite chicken sandwich I’ve ever tried.
