No it doesn't. People on here must have had a lot of bad experience with stale/bad bread.

This just cracks me up for some reason. Telling someone they don't know jack shite about poboys because they like the bread that is the original freaking poboy bread.

eta: Fyi, there is nothing better than a buttered piece of Leidenheimer french bread and a good cup of coffee.

The poboy in your avatar image is my idea of a near perfect poboy bun.

leidenheimer should still be soft. If it is toasted, it becomes easier to tear and is still soft in the middle.
I don't want any hardness to the crust at all. Uniform soft goodness so I don't get pizza burn. The shrimp poboy err sandwich I got at Walk Ons last time was perfect. I don't care what people call it. If it has to have razors on top to be a Poboy, I'd just as soon never have another.

Thanks for your contribution Jason, I loved the poboys at Off the Hook. Some of these people just don't get it.

Better? I don't know, I love them both.

True story. I once ordered a roast beef poboy from Boiling Point in Sulphur. It came out on a Evangeline Maid hot dog bun.

Soft bread wins for me. I don't want crunchy toast. I wanna taste the whole thing.

Again, and it can't be stated enough, the bread shouldn't be crunchy. If it is you either got stale bread or they toasted it too long. You're not supposed to throw it in the over. It should be lightly buttered and either broiled for a few seconds or give it a hit on the flattop grill. That's it. Actually, it doesn't need any of that as the bread is designed to be perfect to hold any filling you throw at it.

Best brand out of Houma. Soft inside and a little firmer outside. It's perfect. And it can achieve mouth roof laceration status if some mutant has such a fetish. All one has to do it toast it to their desired level of ruination.

It is a unicorn, a myth that exist only in the minds of the unfaithful. A sandwich on a bun is not poboy. The people of BR are descendants of speckled trout, they have soft mouths that tear easy.

So, to be a poboy, the bread has to be bad. Got it.

No, it needs to be French. Anything else is a sub, submarine, hoagie, grinder, or whatever else every place not SELA serves...
