La Caretta in Hammond is great. I eat there every time I go there. Sitting outside on a nice cool day just does it right. Except when the train goes by 15 feet from you.

Tampico's in Morgan City. One of the few restaurants there.

I'll have to disagree with you there. I use to work in Morgan City, and have eaten there a few times. The food is good but no where near great. But if you end up in Morgan City for some weird reason, Its still a good place to go, but If im there I'm going to Latin Corner. Not Mexican but GREAT cuban sandwiches. And I live in Miami now and still think so.

Anytime I am passing thorough Alec I stop at Julia's for my "fix". I was living in Alec when Julia's first opened and fell in love with the food. My favorite in Alec and my favorite Mexican in LA.

The Ninfa's in Baton Rouge is actually one of the better ones I've ever been to...the original Mama Ninfa's on Navigation included.
Isnt that like arguing over where the best Applebee's is?
Too many other legit options (atleast on the west side of the Sabine).. and I know this is about Louisiana

1. Pancho's --- it doesn't get any more authentic than this.

Most ignorant thing I've ever read on the food board

Is the Ninfa's in Lafayette still open? That place was terrible.

I used to eat at the one in the warehouse dist....don't even know if it's still open...but it was IMHO the best true Mexican food I have ever eaten...
Tim, the warehouse district one is no longer open, but they're still on Magazine St. uptown.
In their WD space is now an Argentenian steakhouse, called La Boca. You should really check this place out. Possibly the best steaks in town. And likely the best Latin American restaurant in the state.

They used to be really good when they were across from the mall.
