Regular pizza is trash but that boudin pizza is phenomenal.

bullshite. That’s the one I had - twice. Cheap, flavorless crap. All they do is crumble some Zummo’s Boudain over the top. It’s terrible.

Just curious, but you wore a tie to football games as a child?

People “dressed up” for LSU games. I’m talking about coat and tie. There was a whole cottage industry around LSU themed corsages of fresh flowers that guys bought their wives or dates to wear to the games. Then that became a homecoming game thing. Sort of petered out then, but was for every home game.

When I went many moons ago, usually for oyster poboy at lunch, you wrote out your own order on a pad.

I loved it; no way for a waiter to misremember what I said. I'd be willing to do that anywhere. Put a flag on the table for waiter requests, and you have the perfect system.

The boudin pizza is good, otherwise, it's just bar pizza.

This is the 1959 Tulane game. Look how everyone is dressed. I have pics of my grandparents at games like that.

Could you imagine dressing like this for an afternoon game in September? Brutal - especially on the East side

Is it weird that I hate their pizzas but think their calzones are above average?

Yep. My first game at LSU was with my grandfather in 1971. He still wore a coat and tie to the game.

And we did go to Pastime before. I wanted to go to Steinbergs and see that big bear they had in the entrance.

Yeah, those dapper old folks are who we can thank for our night game tradition.

Not at all. I'm with you. I used to love getting the Tiger Bait calzone back in the day.

I realize people like to rag on Pastime here, but I still have a fondness for it. My buddy's dad used to take us there on Friday nights before home games. Lots of ice cold beers and laughs had in that place.

Exactly. Not everything has to be the best. A restaurant that’s been there forever with the same atmosphere and memories is awesome. Everyone talks about how BR sucks, but I think traditional places like Pasttime are what makes the city awesome, even if the food isn’t amazing.

I love how fast food places have the touch pads. I’d be up for that almost anywhere other than fine dining.

Ah yes, the old "no extra gravy for you!" thread.

Thanks for the link. I remember that thread. The Wesley's also owned Wesley's Pizza adjacent to the Broadmore theater. It had the first projection screen TV I remember seeing.

Same. Pastime is my father’s favorite restaurant. We would meet up there before baseball games on Fridays after he got off work.

I was wondering when I saw the name mentioned if they were related. I remember getting pizza there, had the most cheese I ever saw on a pizza. The cheese was so thick you couldn't see what toppings were on the pizza.

Probably haven't had a Pastime pizza in over 40 years. Used to stop there occasionally on the way home after Friday happy hours at the Iron Horse and Rusty Nail.
