Back in late 70's and early 80's, they had a damn good oyster poboy and ice cold long neck Falstaff - and were close to campus.

Anyone been lately? Still the same?

I always liked pastime for what it was, solid bar food. I havent been in a while so cant attest to the current quality. I always liked the pizza, its different for sure.

Who is overhyping Pastime? Its a really old BR restaurant thats been in business since the 1920s, not too sure many places like that exist in BR.

On an oyster poboy? Must be a joke behind this?

We go once in a blue moon. The fried seafood and poboys are better than the pizza. The crust on the pizza is not good.

People love it, but never really heard people realistically claim it’s great pizza. Always been a favorite place for the atmosphere and bar.

I’m sure we can hear a few tales of the owners being asses. I’ve been before when they were complete asses to people.

But I still enjoy going for nostalgia, just like FDL. Not every place has to be “the best” and every place that’s hyped up doesn’t need to be shut down.

Fond memories of Mr Joe who tended bar and also remember Randy who pretty much ran the food part of the Pastime. Randy could remember my first name even after moving to Lafayette and only getting back to BR and Pasttime 1x a year.

If Randy is still managing it is still good I’m sure. Beer was always cold and food was good.

Agreed.
Never had the pizza there (I don't remember if they did pizza back then as I was a drunk student) but I remember the oyster poboy was damn legit.

Worst pizza I've ever had. They use a prepackaged crust, similar to what bowling alleys and laser tag places use. Sauce is straight Sysco.

I can make a better pizza using a Chef Boyardee pizza kit

Yes, Randy Wesley is still there, at least last time I was there. It’s been a family tradition since I was a young child. My father would bring us before, or after LSU football games in the fall, & baseball games spring & summer.
Cheeseburger po’boy, 12” pepperoni w/xtra cheese, bag of Zapp’s, & 2 fountain drinks are standard order…

I used to like the place but I haven’t been in 25 years. Pizza never was their specialty.

Regular pizza is trash but that boudin pizza is phenomenal. I haven’t been in years but think about that pizza all the time.

A fried shrimp poboy and a ice cold root beer before a football home game was my childhood. My granny dressed to her nines, heels and all. I would wear a clip on tie and spit off the top of the east side. I bring my kids to the Pastime before baseball and football games. I still remember the big stuffed bear at Steinburg's across the street.

This x 1000. Their pizza is straight shite. Chucky cheese makes a better pie and it’s garbage. Costco frozen pizzas are high end dining compared to that place.
