Pizza Village in Lafayette is the holy grail of pizza.. I haven’t had anything that beats their classic pepperoni and dup special. Some others who have come close.. in order of greatness: Deano’s (Lafayette), Tommy’s on Thomas (Hammond), Mid City Pizza (NOLA), Pizza Delicious (NOLA), Pizza Dominica (NOLA), Olive Branch (Marerro), G’s Pizza (NOLA) ... Also growing up in BR I never found anything that was worth raving abt.. Schlittz, Fleur de lis, and Red Zep are all really meh. Sad that Lit and maybe Rocca are the best they can do. If Pizza Village came to BR they would make gold and diamonds quickly. Can’t emphasize enough or put into words how much I love that place.

Friend,

I regret to inform all of south Louisiana, from Slidell through Lake Charles, that the best pizza in Louisiana comes from Shreveport. Two months ago, I flew to visit Cousin, who now lives in Shreveport. Cousin loves pizza and he brought me to Frank's Pizza Napoletana. It was as good as any Neopolitan style pizza I have had. To compare it, or any Neopolitan pizza, to Domenica's awful attempts is a disgrace to Naples.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

I'll agree that Deano's is amazing, but if you like Pizza Village, you need to check out Pizza Shack in Opelousas. Try a Ferdie's special and you'll thank me later. Life changing.

I’ll take your word for it, need to try it then because I’m obsessed with pizza village, can’t drive past laff without stopping in. My family has been going ever since they operated in st martinville. I didn’t include JJ’s in Broussard but they’re almost the same deal as pizza village, it’s good but I’ll take the real deal unless I’m in the area.

See, this is what I hate about TigerDroppings in general. I can't tell if SmokeOnTheBayou is being sarcastic or genuine.

I don't know whether to laugh or downvote.

Schlitz crust is dogshit

Fleur de lis is meh to me too

But red zep... Them's fighting words. Dont put them in the same category as Schlitz please. It's not amazing but it's really good imo.

Friend,

When you go out to eat do you order one of everything? Im always amazed by the amount of pics you get from one trip to a restaurant.

Best,

Bread and Cicrus #1 in Lafayette
Central Pizza #2 in Lafayette

Pizza Village likely around #6 in Lafayette - no where even close to #1 in Louisiana

I didn’t realize there was so much pizza village hate.. Crust, sauce, cheese, toppings, consistency, OG status = incredible. To say it’s #6 in laff is blasphemy. I really respect red zep, great pizza, but not incredible. The big picture of my point.. is BR needs to step their weak pizza game up. Majority Laff and Nola areas have all the goat pizza. Don’t see what’s keeping BR stuck with weak sauce.
