I’m ready to take the plunge and get in to the game. Which machine do y’all have that you would recommend and which ones to stay away from?

Instapot has one on Amazon for $79 but others are over $200.

I have Joule. It’s the smallest and most powerful, but it’s also the most expensive:

I know several people that have the Anova and are very satisfied as well.

I have an Anova and like it. I haven’t had any issues. The app is decent as well. You can control it and search for recipes.

Aldi had their Ambiano house brand last year for $50. Bought one for me & my son. Have a duck hunting buddy bought the same one too. I wasn't too keen on dropping a lot of money for a gadget that I hadn't experienced the benefits of before.

Turns out it was a good buy. Son came into town this weekend sans wife & babies. We used the sous vide for NY strips for lunch today. 124* for 2 hours. 2 & 1/2 minutes total on a hot gas grill with a sear station with cast iron burners.

I have Anova with the blue tooth. Works great. I only use the basic functions though. Probably would be just as happy with a stripped down version.

Outside of just wanting to see what the temp is, what is the benefit of the wifi? Do you use it to ramp up/down temps?

I just pick a target temp and let it hold there until it goes on the grill. I cover the pot with foil to eliminate evaporation and reduce energy cost (my Scott & German heritage).

Not bashing, just wondering.

My Anova works great. Clamp on the side of whatever size stockpot I need and get after it.

Anova as well... just the bluetooth one but I've honestly never even hooked up the bluetooth.

I use it a decent amount, especially easy to throw something in when I get home from work and it'll be done once my kiddo is asleep and we're ready for dinner.

I can set the bath up before I leave for work, and then when I get ready to leave, set the temp for the water and the water will be heated by the time I get home

Controlling everything from the app also makes the unit itself smaller

It certainly isn't a necessity, but I has its uses

That seems less efficient than using the water heater to fill it up with hot water to start... but I do see it saving some time.

Anova with Bluetooth but have only used the BT once.

It's a great machine. Get a decent tub for it and a lid if you're doing extended long cooks.

Anova here. I just do everything manually, I've never touched the app or bluetooth or whatever. It's not rocket surgery

I bought one on Amazon that was a lightning deal for like $40. I think the brand is Gramercy Kitchen or something like that. It's been fine. Never used any of the others to compare it to. It did have an issue right out of the box, but I chatted with them and they immediately overnighted me a new one.

I have the Anova with wifi. Used it twice and it's been great. Will do a pork tenderloin tonight with it.

Anova - Amazon

I also ordered this 12 qt container with a silicone lid and stainless rack to keep food in place

Another vote for going cheap. I got a Souvia brand off of Woot for $40. Has wifi. Works great.
