I have the Anova Nano. If I could do it again I would get the other Anova since you can remove the bottom portion and clean the heating element/thermocouple.

I have had a VpCok for a couple of years. I'm pretty happy with it, especially for the price.

There's currently a 20% off coupon. Under 50 bucks you can get a solid unit. I use it weekly with no hick ups. I've tested the water temp with my calibrated homebrew thermometer and it is spot on.

That seems less efficient than using the water heater to fill it up with hot water to start... but I do see it saving some time.

I use hot water or just put it on the stove to speed it up. Never takes longer than 5 or so minutes to get up to temp. I’ve used the Bluetooth once, and that was when I first got it.

get the cheap one. You'll likely find it to be a novelty item

I have a plastic bin that I usually use... I'm not going to put it on the stove.

That would work pretty well if I used a stock pot though.

I bought a Sansaire probably 5yrs ago, before the sous vide crazy took over. No aps, no wifi and never felt like it needed to be a "smart" item.

I'd buy an Anova when it went on sale (likely Christmas) and not look back, if you get to the point where you want to buy a "sealed" container Anova is the most popular and has way more options, rather than taking a hole saw and dremel to a plastic container like I did.

Like the InstantPot or maybe the Air Fryer (I don't have that one), the sous vide has its place.

I've used it three times now since working from home makes it easy to plan dinners and use this method. The results have all been great.

Personally I don't think I'll make a steak any other way going forward.

InstantPot

So far, we've used ours to make rice and oatmeal.

Other than that, it just takes up space in the cabinet. Soon to take up space in the closet off the back door.

It's great for brown rice for sure.

Wife and I have been doing low country boils in ours with great success. One of our favorite meals.

Also made a great pot of pho with it and of course homemade stock.

If you just used it to make homemade stock in bulk, it's worth it.

I have found many uses for it, and it's taken over slow cooker duties from my slow cooker because I can sear a roast in it before the slow cook. Not only saving another pot to clean, but keeping all the fond.

It's still my favorite device for thicken thighs.

You can make a decent spaghetti/meatballs in one pot with zero effort.

Only way I have ever made good carnitas.
