I see that amazon has an Anova sous vide on sale for half off. Is this a good brand and/or model to get?
I have never used one but reading here got me interested.

Do you even Joule?

But to the OP, yes, get the Anova. It’s a great deal.

When we're using our Anova the lights in the house flicker. Does anyone else have this problem too?

It's a newer home with perfectly a perfectly good breaker box too.

Anova and Joule are pretty much the industry standards for home use.

I'm tempted to get a sous vide to play around with, but I don't want to cheat on my weber. Are there any applications for it besides meat?

There are thousands of recipes for all types of food. With the Anova app you select the meal you want, vacuum seal the food, and place it in the water. Hit start on your smart phone and the Anova device is automatically set for time and temp. You follow the cooking progress on your phone.

Nope, do you have a lot of devices on that circuit already?

I love making eggs Benedict with mine. Super easy and it is a surefire brunch 100% of the time. The yolks are gummy and the hollendaise is spot on with minimal effort.

I have made lemoncello a few times and it is awesome.

The crime brûlée that it turns out is magic.

And the perfectly cooked filets and prime ribs are just lagniappe.

I'm interested in one of these.

Not sure I need Bluetooth / WiFi capabilities from another room in the house though.

Wondering if the bigger unit is worth it (stronger?) over the "Nano"

The Anovo rapidly switches between zero and 900 watts to regulate the water-bath temp. Try plugging in a full-power space heater (~1500 watts) to the same outlet, and rapidly switch the power switch on and off. Bet you'll see your house lights flicker as well.

Quick guess/answer is that outlet shares a neutral with way too many other outlets, or the whole service is not grounded well.

I have had a Joule for a few months and have been pleased. I like the compact size. I did have a problem that required a replacement. After a couple of troubleshooting steps they sent me a new one in a couple of days. So they stood behind the product. All of their suggested receipes have produced great results. Helps lean meats like pork and chicken stay juicy.

We have the Anova with Bluetooth and have used it weekly for about two years. Never used the Bluetooth though, not even sue what that is for. Pull the trigger, it won't disappoint.

The Bluetooth only works with the Anova app. But you still have to be in the vicinity so it's really not that useful unless you wanted to change the temp or timer from your phone.

I have a Joule, and it is only controlled by app- no switches on it. Have had no problems, but have only used it a few times.
