I mean it's 25 min to downtown New Orleans if traffic isn't completely f**ed so the whole metro area should be open to you. Its' not like you're in NYC or Houston and if you eat more than a few miles from the airport the drive will kill you.

I'd head to Rivertown and hit up The River Shack. I prefer them to Ground Patti. With that many folks, especially teens, their menu would fit the bill. You could even hit Flying Dolly's across the street for some ice cream for dessert.(Get the Honey Comb)

On the off chance you are traveling from the west and will be early. Frenier Landing in Laplace is also a decent choice.

Flying Dollys has good ice cream and snowballs. Discovered it during Italian Fest and the fest desserts were really good. I think it imports its ice cream from a creamery in Mandeville. Want to try the Rivertown, too. All recs here are solid. But that’s one place I haven’t tried.

Well that sucks. I followed them from downtown to Harahan. Decent sandwiches and such.
