It was not a fleecing. Coco just charges $200 per hour for cooking and cleanup

Dude, you drop $150/pp on that and won’t pony up for a decent NYC hotel for a night.

Like I said in my NYC thread, I don't pay for over priced hotel rooms, it's a rip off.

Wasn't what, over priced or a rip off?

No, the dinner was amazing!

And like I also said in my NYC thread, save the money from an over priced hotel, spend it on a great meal, experience, etc

Well you know it’s not the OT over here. Same thread on OT and he didn’t pay enough.

Same posters as well.

I’m sure it’s in storage with his knives. Maybe if he could have charged that he would still be in business.

i would blindly pay caplewood 120/head to come to my place and cook over the menu posted here

i would imagine he is probably the most accomplished cook on here

Pretty simple. Emailed him on his website (learned of him here on TD). He called me the next day. The price is what ever I wanted. I settled on $120 a person.

You got this rate for 2 people????

I don’t see a problem with the price for what it was.

It wasn’t a menu I would choose, but he achieved his goal for he and his wife and was very pleased with the product. I don’t think it was overpriced. Everyone had an opinion and some are opinions based n what they could cook at home. So many who think Ruth’s Chris is overpriced bc they can cook a steak at home.

Yea for me it comes down to how many people were there. 2 to 4 people, 120 is perfectly fine. I mean you are hiring a guy to come to your house and cook you dinner lol.

If this was 10 people, that menu isnt worth 120/head.

When I first read the thread, i told LL damn woman you need to go start cooking for people if thats what theyre paying

This coco guy is pretty accomplished it seems. I’m sure he worked a menu that suited the customer’s taste but could’ve done more if called upon to do so. It’s a safe menu. I mean he’s cooking for some dude in BR wearing a zip up sweater to dinner, I don’t expect boudin stuffed quail or foie gras to make the menu. And $120 a head isn’t really a lot. You’re dropping $40 alone on a filet a la carte at a Mr Johns or Ruth’s. Factoring in everything it seems reasonable

I’d be curious what cap or anyone else would serve in 6 courses for $120/head in someone’s home.

i trust caplewood over anyone on here when it comes to fine dining.

i think the money thing is more of an economies of scale thing. with 2 to 4 people, 120/person isnt going to give you much to work with where you make a good amount of profit. with the menu posted and lets say it was for 10 people, the chef made off like a bandit

But you were willing to let your 14 year old daughter stay in the ghetto.

You just have some odd attributes. You brag about spending money for certain things, but then criticize spending money for a decent hotel room. And I mean decent. You seem to think the only available choices are flea bag and suite at the plaza.

You just seem like a weird dude. But again, I hope you enjoy, and I wish you the best.

He had someone cook a nice dinner for a few people at his house and all he had to do was provide space. Basic menu? It is HIS menu, HIS MONEY and what they wanted to eat.

Would I have done it? No...not my thing. I'd rather prepare the meal myself. But how another man enjoys his money is nobody's business but his.

$120/person for what you got isn’t a good deal. Add to that the fact you still haven’t had anything to drink, and you’re spending another $100 on wine/spirits, and I’d say you could have gone anywhere in New Orleans, or wherever you live, and had a much better meal for about the same or less.

That was cheap for the man to actually come to your house and prepare the food. He would go broke doing that every night. Think about it he traveled, he bought the food and he tied up his time for several hours.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Not something you do every weekend but a great departure from going out to eat.
